Physical Logistics Team Leader

JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a BAE Systems majority owned joint venture Company. The successful individual will be working for a company at the forefront of BAE Systems' commitment to industrialise the supply chain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Working across the SMSCMC Functions and Project Teams will offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of SMSCMC in KSA. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The operational short to medium term coordination and supervision of safe receipt, storage, pick, pack, dispatch and transportation activities in order to deliver customer requirements within timescales set. Also supervises and coordinates the planning of logistics activity and the resolution of queries/issues through interface with other teams/organisations. Ensure motivation and effective utilisation of workforce, adherence to SHE, Quality and other internal and external regulations. This person would be seen as an expert in the field of Physical logistics operations, be able to define the processes, propose improvements and manage those improvement into the day to day running of the operation. This role is the first line team leader of a team of logistics professionals working to deliver the supply chain in support of an aircraft Maintenance Organisation. At this level the team leader should ensure their team is organised and developed, ensure staff are motivated and deployed effectively, ensure plans and procedures are in place to achieve department objectives, monitoring and reporting team/business performance. Performance indicators - Ensure the effective management of Physical Logistics activities by meeting delivery targets, monitoring progress and developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritises activities within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment of escalated issues for any impact on Continuing Airworthiness and generating effective resolution, or sponsoring escalation to management, as appropriate. Completion of activities - Ensure all Physical Logistics activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile required reporting, identify any issues and escalate as appropriate. Procedure/standards - Manage the Physical Logistics team(s) compliance with the Part 145 Exposition, its associated procedures and standards, and any other Company procedures and standards, as applicable. Identify, propose and implement change as required, whilst ensuring compliance. Safety Management System - Promote the application of Human Factors, Error Management, Risk Management and Safety Assurance within the Physical Logistics team(s), together with the proactive analysis, mitigation and management of Hazards. Management System Assurance - Ensure Physical Logistics team(s) activities are compliant with the Aircraft Maintenance and Support (AM&S) Governance and Assurance framework. Ensure Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by Physical Logistics personnel and integrated within/across teams. Manage the response to audit findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the relevant reviews. Generate and implement effective improvements within/across teams to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness. Statutory / Regulatory & Legislative requirements - Able to demonstrate a strong understanding and application of the relevant Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory framework, and ensure any Regulatory-driven changes are implemented within the Physical Logistics team(s) activities. Ensure compliance with all other requirements, e.g. IATA, ITAR, EaPW, ISO, etc. Contractual Requirements - Ensure compliance with all applicable contractual requirements, e.g. through support to contract reviews, and ensure any changes are implemented into the Physical Logistics activities, as appropriate. · Ensure all logistics planning is carried out in accordance with the latest issue of the BAE SYSTEMS Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE). General awareness of the defence logistics framework and associated procedures. · Management and maintenance of effective working relationships with all stakeholders to ensure collaborative working · Proactively manage problems and issues arising. Recording and tracking resolution of each in order to achieve line parts and assemblies requirements. · Alignment of the medium term planning activity with the day to day operation on the line to ensure targets and requirements are met · Compilation and review of the logistics service performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and ensure correct targets are set for the team · Ensure that departmental plans and appropriate policy and procedure are in place and fully implemented in order to meet departmental objectives · Provide supervision and coordination for a team, ensure that team members are fully motivated, trained, capable and able to generate work output of a quality to meet all requirements of the business, customer and contract · Ensure that all team members are fully deployed and that the work of the team is completed on time, to schedule and achieve quality requirements · Ensure that department procedures and processes are in place and adopted to ensure safe working conditions for all staff

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION · Educated to NVQ Level 3 / Level 5 Award · Strong IT literacy skills and in depth knowledge of asset tracking / ERP systems. · Requires an in depth knowledge of the workings of a warehouse / logistics operation and the importance of compliance with the MRP Part 145 regulations. · Excellent planning and expediting knowledge and skills plus can demonstrate good experience of using asset tracking / warehouse and planning systems. · Strong track record of excellent relationship building and problem solving skills. · Proven team leader, budget control, planning, performance management and reporting knowledge · Knowledge of BAES / customer and supplier logistics and Release to Service (RTS) documentation is desirable.
