Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI): Admin Internship Programme 2024

 

The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is seeking an Administrative Intern to join our Education and Training department based at AHRI Durban campus. 

 

The intern will be responsible for providing effective admin support for the AHRI Education and Training Programme, which aims to provide support to AHRI’s MSc and PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, research associates and faculty members to aid in their skills development and career progression.

 

This position requires the intern to be proficient in multi-tasking skills, high level analytical skills, be deadline driven, be engaging and to be detailed orientated.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support for the Education and Training Programme.
  • Assist with maintaining the Education programmes databases.
  • Assist with the recruitment of students and fellows within AHRI.
  • Assist with the design of adverts, news events, presentations, handbook.
  • Ordering of materials and supplies when needed.
  • To assist with the preparation and planning for courses/workshops including logistics, booking of venues, catering, distribution of training materials or source documents, compiling registers, evaluations, feedback etc.
  • Assist with capturing and compiling meeting notes, generating forms, evaluations, documenting trainee/fellow feedback.
  • Assist with capturing and maintaining AHRI trainee fellow publications.
  • Providing general assistance to the Programme Admin Officer and Programme Manager.

Requirements:

  • Must have a BSc Degree or B Tech degree.
  • Be a South African resident.

 

Advantageous:

  • Proficient with using Microsoft Suite - Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic experience in educational administrative support role.
  • Previous experience working in a research environment.
