OracleDatabase Administrator/Operational Support

Demonstrated expertise with Oracle Database EnterpriseEdition

Demonstrated experience with LinuxOS

Demonstrated expertise with Oracle RAC,Data Guard, DBVault

Demonstrated experience with Oracle Enterprise Monitoring (OEM) andperformancemonitoring

Demonstrated experience installing andtesting new versions of Oracle DBEE

Demonstrated experience developing,managing and testing back-up and recovery plans; ensuring thatstorage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioningcorrectly;

Demonstrated experience with capacityplanning;

Provision for data security and recovery control (all data isretrievable in anemergency)

Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access andsecurity;

Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fastquery responses to front-endusers;

Controlling access permissions andprivileges;

Liaising with IT specialists and unit leads and working closelywith support team members and relevantstakeholders;

Communicating regularly with technical, applications andoperational staff to ensure database integrity andsecurity;

Decommissioning and installing new applications and customizingexisting applications in order to make them fit forpurpose;

Assisting with scheduled operational data store loads as well asperforming database backups andrestores


DatabaseModelling and Design

Demonstrates advanced knowledge of BI, data warehousing, datamodeling techniques, tools andapproaches;

Participates in the analysis, design, development, and unit testingof all the project s databasecomponents;

Designs RDBMS, DML and DDL components for Oracle databasesystems

Mapsout the conceptual design for a planned database in outline;considers both back-end organization of data and front-endaccessibility forend-users;

Refines the logical design so that it can be translated into aspecific data model; further refining the physical design to meetsystem storagerequirements;

Develops and maintains data models using Power Designer as perGO-ITSstandards;

Writes technical specifications, including data standards,procedures and definitions for the data dictionary(metadata);

Participating in the design of the overall solution to ensurebusiness needs aremet;

Leadsand conducts data modelling (conceptual, logical and physical) anddata flow modeling sessions with project teammembers

Developing architecture artifacts ( data models, interface datarequirements document, traceability matrix) based on OntarioGovernment Enterprise Architecture processes andpractice

Ensuring project compliance with the Ontario government and theCluster/Ministry s guidelines, standards and procedures suchas:

architecture/technology standards and bestpractices;

conflict of interest and confidentialityguidelines;

security procedures and practices;and

OntarioGovernment I&IT Directive, operational policy on theI&IT project gateway
