Abouttherole:

TheResearch Associate will work with the project team and otherpartners on the implementation of project activities in the field,collection of research data, publication of research findings, andthat those findings are translated into a form that will enablepractitioners to take new methods and tools to In addition, the scientist will also help withcapacity strengthening efforts linked to building a community ofpractice knowledgeable in potato seed systems, crop management andpost-harvest The position requires an experienced potato personwith good quantitative and writing skills combined with an abilityto teach complex topics to researchers at different levels ofexpertise and as well it will be an opportunity to develop The position will be based in Agartala,Tripura and report directly to the Project


Keyresponsibilities:

  • Conductdemonstrations on improved production practices related to potatoseed production, plant or soil nutrition, pest and diseasemanagement, mechanization, and water
  • Conductfield visits to monitor and collect seed, plant, and soil samplesand testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, orother
  • Workclosely with the project team in developing production practices byintegrating varieties with improved production practices to improvefarmers
  • Providetrainings to farmers, project partners and extension agents onimproved production
  • Contributeto writing training materials, technical progress reports andannual reviews and workplans as directed by the project
  • Assistthe project manager in administrative tasks and activities relatedto knowledge management and generating communication outputs forusers of



Requirements

  • Experience oftechnical reporting with advance level knowledge of MSoffice
  • Good record ofscientific and technical publications with advance level knowledgeof databasework
  • Goodinterpersonal skills: ability to work in a multi-culturalenvironment with sensitivity and respect for
  • Strongunderstanding of integrating gender and other social equityconsiderations into project design and
  • Ability toorganize work and write in a clear and concise manner and tocommunicate effectively
