One of our prestigious clients is looking to hire a HSE Director, with 12+ years of experience In the Ship building industry who will be responsible for but not limited to:

Job Overview

Oversee the development, implementation, and management of health, safety, and
environmental initiatives in the shipbuilding and MRO sector. Ensuring regulatory
compliance, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of safety, health, and sustainability.

Strategic Responsibilites

  • Align division goals, processes, and resource allocation with the organizational strategy while maintaining awareness of commercial and business objectives.
  • Ensure the accomplishment of organizational unit objectives by managing staff;
    planning and evaluating organizational unit activities.
  • Define objectives, identifies, and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of
    action, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual
    budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Support with strategic problems resolution and subjective decision making.

Managerial Responsibilites

  • Supervise the entire work done by the team members and making sure it is completed on time without any delay.
  • Lead the team to complete tasks and meet goals through delegation of responsibilities and supervising business operations.
  • Set the vision and motivation of the team in order to achieve the sought objectives
    efficiently.
  • Set appropriate and achievable deadlines.
  • Track and report critical organizational unit performance results and escalate and
    negotiate business related issues to senior management.
  • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

Functional Responsibilites

  • Oversee the preparation of comprehensive documentation pertaining to risk assessment, ensuring alignment with Saudi legislation. Provide strategic guidance on potential workplace hazards, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategies.
  • Offer managerial support to organizational units during production area restructuring, machine introduction, and equipment installation. Ensure strict compliance with evolving legislation and standards, providing guidance for regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate strategically with organizational units to assess occupational risks
    associated with workplace design, work systems, and equipment. Lead the identification of potential hazards and propose preventive measures, including recommendations for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety procedures, and instructions.
  • Take a leadership role in developing information and training programs on occupational health and safety for workers. Drive initiatives to enhance awareness and foster a safety oriented culture within the organization.
  • Oversee the verification of the technical and professional suitability of contractors. Lead the elaboration of the Single Interference Risk Assessment Document and ensure the reception and control of contractors' Safety Plans. Conduct regular coordination meetings with contracting companies to ensure compliance.
  • Lead efforts in organizing relationships with public services for first aid, rescue,
    firefighting, and emergency management. Take charge of coordinating fire prevention, first aid, and evacuation activities. Directly manage staff involved in first aid and fire supervision tasks.
  • Provide strategic oversight in managing health surveillance obligations and participating in competent doctor visits. Direct efforts to identify causes and circumstances of accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses. Propose strategic actions to prevent recurrence and ensure compliance with legal obligations.
  • Lead the maintenance of accurate accident statistics, overseeing the monitoring of
    trends and identifying areas for improvement. Ensure the timely update of records to comply with reporting requirements, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external bodies responsible for monitoring hygiene and
    safety. Lead systematic visits to production workshops and on board to verify prevention and protection measures, ensuring continuous improvement in safety standards.
  • Ensure continuous and adequate regulatory support to all Shipyard Organizational
    Units, focusing on the application and evolution of legislation related to environmental protection and safeguarding.
  • Promote and actively participate, alongside Shipyard Organizational Units, in defining company procedures to ensure compliance with regulations preventing air, water, soil pollution, as well as noise and other environmental pollutants during regular plant operations. Initiate actions within the scope of responsibilities to enforce these procedures.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external bodies responsible for monitoring
    environmental matters, facilitating collaboration, and staying informed on regulatory updates.
  • Collaborate in defining technical and organizational methods for managing cleaning activities within the Shipyard and for ships under construction/fitting out. Additionally, contribute to the establishment of efficient methods for the collection and disposal of waste.
  • Ensure control and surveillance activities related to environmental compliance.
  • Guarantee the adoption of necessary measures for the maximum protection and
    safeguarding of the environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality Management or any other similar field.
  • Above 12 years of experience in related field including 6 years in a leadership role.
  • Master's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality Management or any other similar field.
