To provide skilled technical support to the Al Hatab sites by requesting, approving and maintaining ingredient specifications and suppliers' certifications (including packaging information) and ensuring information contained is compliant with customer requirements, relevant legislation and group policy.


Key Accountabilities

  • To complete an inherent risk assessment of raw materials and packaging items prior to entering the manufacturing environment.
  • To accurately populate and maintain the RP Central Spec System with all relevant raw material data, certifications and approved specifications.
  • Ensure all raw materials have an approved and active specification on out RP
  • Generate, maintain and update relevant raw material systems and databases liaising with Operations, Technical, Buying and NPD as appropriate.
  • Work closely with manager to ensure that all suppliers either existing to the business or a new supplier/material to be introduced into the business has full/current approval status.
  • Participate in Technical audits including customer and Group Technical
  • Ensure that all information held centrally on supplier approval is reflective of the factories supply base and risk assessment outcome.
  • Escalate appropriately internally / externally if discrepancies are found.
  • Assist in capturing information and coordination responses in a food safety alert.
  • Assess suitability of materials against Al Hatab & thirdparty retailer's codes of practice
  • Open communication with the procurement, technical and operational teams where products fall outside the specification into the reject category.
  • Capable of spotting, questioning and challenging safety data on raw material and packaging specifications where necessary.
  • Consistently able to manage their own workload and deliver on time, every time.
  • Complete regular gap analysis against changing legislation, customer polices and BRC / Al Hatab manufacturing standards to maintain compliance.
  • Knowledge of Vegan/Halal requirements and capable of completing vegan questionnaires to support the sites with their risk assessments where appropriate.
  • Remain on top of lapses in certifications, changes and supplier information, ensuring that raw material and supplier data is always current and indate.
  • Ensuring that you are totally aware of new market and supplier activity and feedback to the business as appropriate.
  • Work with team to provide solutions to solve manufacturing problems on new & existing raw materials.
  • Ideally, you will have good knowledge of food safety and previous quality assurance experience in a fastpaced food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • You will need drive and enthusiasm in all aspects of a technical role, a strong understanding of HACCP and the competency to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision making and communication skills, alongside the ability to analyse basic information, summarising and reporting this in a clear, competent manner will all be key to this role.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with various teams as required by manager / projects.
  • Organize, and attend as necessary project meetings and panels.
  • Appropriate communication (written and verbal) to teams and team members.
  • To work alongside development technologists and chefs and be flexible in roles where required across the team.
  • Follow all H&S requirements.
  • Promote safe working across site and advice immediately on unsafe work practices.

Experience:

  • Ideally, you will have good knowledge of food safety and previous quality assurance experience in a fastpaced food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • You will need drive and enthusiasm in all aspects of a technical role, a strong understanding of HACCP and the competency to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision making and communication skills, alongside the ability to analyse basic information, summarising and reporting this in a clear, competent manner will all be key to this role.
