Role description:

Roles at this level will operationally manage design delivery and coordination of core projects or programmes of work to ensure delivery of Consultants Scope of Services

Role of the Project Manager is to provide an overview of the project management process, how the design develops through design stages and design stage gateways, and the Programme controls systems for reporting to the SPM Project or Programme

Responsible for review of consultants scope of work in line with budgetary, compliance, regulatory and planning controls, and require deep technical knowledge and broad business experience

Role accountabilities:

Approvals Phase:

oversee Consultants' activities and coordinate the designs for various stages and elements of each Project to agree with Development objectives, including the status of design progress, Consultant deliverables, Employer approvals, and statutory approvals/permits.


  • Responsible for review of consultants scope of work in line with budgetary, compliance, regulatory and planning controls, and require deep technical knowledge and broad business experience
  • Shall manage the project management processes in accordance with procedures agreed with Employer
  • Shall coordinate the design processes by which design deliverables shall be required. Shall review and monitor design progress and any independent checking and inform the SPM Project or Programme on the issues, so the approvals are facilitated, and the overall process is expedited.
  • Ensure that the Consultants produce the deliverables required under their appointments, including but not limited to Drawings, Specifications, Calculations, Reports, Schedules, Models, Renditions, to enable Contractors to procure and construct the Works in accordance with the requirements of the Project Brief, Cost Plan, Contractors' contracts and programmes/schedules.
  • Assist in reviewing the Consultants' design programmes to ensure that they coordinate with the Contractor's construction programmes. Thereafter, the PMC shall monitor the Consultants for adherence to those programmes.
  • Shall review design documents to ensure that they are complete, all deliverables have been provided and are in general accordance with the versions of those documents previously approved by Employer and do not contain unauthorized changes that may impact on each Projects' time and cost.
  • Work with key stakeholders to clarify the scope of the project and the specific client and project criteria that are to be met
  • Develop and agree a project plan that identifies key activities, outputs and resource requirements and that provides a basis for monitoring project performance
  • Lead and provide direction and technical advice to team members and external resources, identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues
  • Monitor the commercial performance of the project and take remedial action where necessary
  • Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution or review
  • Develop effective working relationships with the client to ensure that there is effective communication of progress and changes, as well as the resolution of issues and client acceptance of project outputs
  • Coach and mentor professionals, to support the development of Arcadis' talent pool
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis and client businesses to enable personal performance improvement and career development

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Architecture or relevant degree
  • Chartered professional status, or equivalent
  • Eight or more years' relevant experience including supervision of elements of large, complex projects such as hotels, universities or museums
  • Experience working with an international consultancy as part of the PMC team.
