Job Summary:


The Senior Engineer, Instrument, is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation systems within an organization.

This role involves designing instrument specifications, selecting appropriate instrumentation technologies, overseeing project execution, conducting analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

The Senior Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the innovation and improvement of instrumentation systems and processes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement instrumentation systems, including selection and specification of appropriate instruments, sensors, and control devices, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, safety standards, and project requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in instrumentation engineering projects, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including process engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers, to define project requirements, scope, and deliverables.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments to evaluate the viability and potential impact of instrumentation engineering projects.
  • Create instrument datasheets, specifications, and loop diagrams, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of instrumentation systems, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate instrument designs, including sizing, accuracy, and rangeability.
  • Develop and review control narratives, functional descriptions, and design documents related to instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations, such as ISA, IEC, NEC, and API, throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors to evaluate instrumentation equipment and materials, and make recommendations for selection and procurement.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), and project meetings to provide technical insights, identify potential issues, and propose solutions.
  • Support the continuous improvement of instrumentation engineering processes, methodologies, and standards within the organization.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to resolve technical issues, optimize system performance, and ensure effective integration with other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

Min 5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, with a focus on designing and implementing instrumentation systems.
