Assists inproviding medicalcare in the field of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology andsupervisesinterns and residents, in accordance with current medical staffbylaws,rules and regulations and the Hospital's policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

ClinicalResponsibilities

Assists theConsultants inproviding required patient care and management in thefield of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology,in accordance with standards ofmedical care laid down by the Hospital.

Studies and performsassessment,examination and the compilation of a case history andassists in the diagnosisand management of the patient in accordancewith criteria listed in diagnosticmanuals such as the Diagnostic andStatistical Manual.

Registers detailed medicalhistory,conducts a thorough physical examination and creates a plan forpatientmanagement and follows-up for discussion with theConsultant.Subsequently, records the consultant's orders, progressnotes and other requireddocuments for outpatients.

Provideson-call coverage fortheir specialty on a rotational basis duringevenings, nights, weekends andpublic holidays.

Prepares forand participatesin consultant and specialist ward rounds as perpolicy.Documents findings in medical records.

Follows up oninvestigationresults for outpatients and modifies treatmentaccordingly.

Attends specialty clinics,outpatient clinics,and shares on on-call schedule as per requirements.

Performsother clinicalresponsibilities, as assigned.

Provides orientation,bedsidetraining and supervision of interns, residents and fellows asassigned.

Keeps abreast of all the latesttechniques anddevelopments, especially in area of specialization.Implements them ona selective basis toimprove technical standards.

Participates in theeducational activities and training programs of thedepartment.

Participates in national andinternational medicalconferences.

ResearchResponsibilities

Participates in clinical,basic and translational research projects andpublished papers in accordancewith Research Advisory Council Policy inorder to advance knowledge, improvethe quality of post graduateeducation and contribute to the national andinternational recognitionof the Hospital.

AdministrativeResponsibilities

Undertakes the administrativeduties assigned by the SectionHead or Chairman of the department.

Participates in allmandatory departmentalactivities and serves on departmental andHospital committees, as required.

Assists the department inthedevelopment and implementation of techniques and practices thathelp maximizethe utilization of all resources within the departmentand across the Hospital.

Abides by the current Hospitalandmedical stall bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policiesandkeeps updated of any changes that might occur.

Participates in self-andothers' education, training and development asapplicable.

Follows all Hospital-relatedpolicies andprocedures.

Performs other related dutiesas assigned.

Education

Graduation from amedicalschool in good standing, completion of required period ofpostgraduate trainingin a specialty and/or subspecialty, withSaudi/American Board or Canadian/UKcertification, or equivalent asoutlined by the Medical Staff CredentialingCommittee.

Experience Required

Two (2) years of traininginspecialty and subspecialty plus post-training experience required.
