Are you considering returning to the workforce after a career break? Bechtel proudly presents the Bechtel RISE returnship, a career re-entry program designed to support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities and continue their professional journey.

Over the course of the 10-week returnship, experienced professionals who are transitioning back to their field after a career break of 2 years or more will benefit from customized onboarding and dedicated programming, and gain full-time, paid, on-the-job experience.

They will have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience.

Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions, participants will be eligible for a career at Bechtel.

Reasons for career breaks can include time away to pursue a new career/business venture, childcare, eldercare, health issues, military service, retirement, and others.

Participants should be prepared to start October 15th, 2023. Returnship positions will offer a 48-hour work week.

  • Have prior work experience in the functional area of interest.

Project Information:

Principle Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare project controls plans, and detailed manpower utilization plans.
  • Monitor cost performance against the plan and prepares trends as necessary.
  • Assist with contract management and payments.
  • Work closely with different project functions to coordinate required data needed to conform to the overall estimate.
  • Assist in developing unit hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or another specialty, including estimating parameters, factors, indices, productivity, and craft distribution reference data, etc.
  • Perform data analysis, identify problems, and make recommendations.
  • Manage cost control by recording project cost and progress; directly interface with management as necessary for cost control monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist in preparing cost data for expenditure and cash flow preparation and reconciliation.
  • Set up and maintain tracking reports for submittal of monthly progress invoices.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct preparation of specific budgets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) from an accredited university and 4 or more years of relevant experience. If qualifying with a Master's degree, 3 or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • 23 years of professional experience working on large, industrial, construction projects.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialised instruction or practical experience.
