Responsible for all General Medicines (Gen Med) external and internal communication, including interaction with relevant media contacts, stakeholder and market communications, and implementation of GenMed internal messages and communication plans.

The individual in this role has significant experience in communications and public relations roles, a keen understanding of Pharma communication needs, and excellent crisis management ability.

A significant component of this strong communicator and influencer's work comes in aligning GenMed communications with Global and Regional communication strategy and planning.

Develop and implement an integrated communications & patient relations strategy that enhances the Novartis Pharma reputation, in line with corporate guidelines and in tune with local market conditions.

The strategies and programs should be targeted to external and internal audiences with a strong social media element and with patient inclusion as the cornerstone of our business.

Internally, the role focuses on providing communications counsel and support to senior management, ensuring associate engagement, and increasing readiness in the areas of social media, product communications and patient relations.

Externally, the role focuses on building strong relationships with patients and patient organizations to improve outcomes, implementing and localizing global integrated patient-inclusive product communications campaigns for launch and established products, and leveraging corporate initiatives and CSR activities.

Simultaneously full preparation for potential crisis & issues should be guaranteed.

To be successful in this role a strong collaboration with several internal stakeholders on a regional and country level across divisions is key.

Minimum requirements

  • University degree. Advanced degree in business, law,
bioscience, or related field desirable.

  • MBA preferred
  • Fluent English (Oral & Written)
  • Fluent with local country languages
  • Extensive experience in communications positions, including highlevel involvement in media and shareholder relations
  • Significant experience in healthcare industry communications positions, and excellent understanding of Pharma communication concerns regarding public, media, shareholder and employee relations preferred
  • Experience in crisis management, and proven record of managing crises through effective communication channels
  • Demonstrated ability to influence high level media and analyst stakeholders
  • Ability to lead team of professional communicators
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent persuasive ability
