Position Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Department: Electrical & Instrumentation - Desalination & Wastewater Treatment Plant

Location: Zuluf

Reports To: Technical Manager

Job Summary:

Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems for desalination and wastewater treatment plants. The role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and instrumentation technologies, ensuring systems are efficient, reliable, and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

Design and develop electrical systems and instrumentation for desalination and wastewater treatment plants.

Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD software.

Select appropriate instrumentation and control systems based on project requirements.

Installation and Commissioning:

Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.

Ensure all installations comply with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Conduct functional and performance testing of installed systems.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Develop and implement maintenance programs for electrical and instrumentation systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure minimal downtime.

Provide technical support to maintenance teams.

Project Management:

Manage electrical and instrumentation aspects of projects from concept to completion.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and vendors to ensure project milestones are met.

Prepare and review project documentation, including specifications, reports, and procurement documents.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all electrical and instrumentation systems comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Implement and adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Conduct safety audits and inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with the latest technologies and advancements in electrical engineering and instrumentation.

Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in system design, efficiency, and performance.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Instrumentation Engineering.

Minimum of [10] years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering, preferably in desalination and wastewater treatment projects.

Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar) and other relevant design tools.

Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical and instrumentation systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation engineering principles, theories, and practices.
  • Proficiency in designing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation in industrial settings.

Engineering Software Proficiency:

  • Expertise in using engineering design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, and other relevant tools.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and DCS systems.

Project Management:

  • Ability to manage and oversee electrical and instrumentation projects from conception through completion.
  • Skilled in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.

Technical Documentation:

  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing technical documentation, including specifications, datasheets, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to create detailed reports, manuals, and technical guides.

Standards and Regulations:

  • Comprehensive understanding of local and international electrical and instrumentation standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NEC).
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the electrical engineering field.

Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.

Instrumentation and Control Systems:

  • Expertise in designing and implementing control systems, including SCADA, HMI, and process control instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of sensors, transducers, and measurement techniques.

Commissioning and Maintenance:

  • Experience in the commissioning and startup of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site supervisors.
  • Ability to convey complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting data, conducting simulations, and optimizing system performance.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools and software.

Attention to Detail:

  • Meticulous attention to detail for ensuring accuracy in design, documentation, and implementation.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential issues before they arise.

Continuous Improvement:

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Automation Professional (CAP), or other industry-specific credentials.

  • Previous experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering roles, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience working in a technical office environment, coordinating with field operations.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
