Fire Equipment Technician

Assists in directing the Emergency Response Team during a fire situation. Investigates incidents and reports findings.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinates and participates in fire prevention program, safety surveys, development of emergency planning, and safe work procedures and employee fire and safety training.
  • Inspection, maintenance, refilling and repair of portable fire equipment. Maintains written and computerized records of equipment inventory and inspection results.
  • Supervises and controls the Emergency Response Team during an emergency and rescue operations and maintains the Section's daily log activities.
  • Conducts facility surveys and fire inspections activities including evaluation of gathered data under the supervision of Safety Officer.
  • Demonstrates techniques for action during a fire situation. Describes and identifies the characteristics of basic building materials under fire conditions. Identifies fire prevention codes, building codes and ventilation requirements.
  • Identifies and applies procedures required on fire hazards associated with handling and use of flammable liquids.
  • Schedules, conducts and participates in fire drills and other emergencies' exercises.
  • Analyses accidents and/or fire incidents to determine cause(s) and effect positive actions to correct the situation. Submits reports on fire incidents and/or on job accidents.
  • Evaluates the fire exit requirement for different types of occupancies.
  • Submits statistical reports and interprets data and recommends improvements.
  • Maintains a chronological log of all activities and incidents. Prepares weekly and monthly reports, assist in preparation of annual and ad hoc reports.
  • Trains Emergency Response Team personnel. Assists in employee fire safety training.

Education:

Bachelor's, Associate Degree/ Diploma, or High School Education is required.

Experience Required:

Five (5) years of related experience is required.

Other Requirements(Certificates):

  • Able to read/write English and Arabic is required.
  • Ability to work on a shift basis.
  • Saudi Driving license is required.
  • Understanding of fire codes and standards locally and internationally.
  • Must be physically fit for firefighting duties.
