Participates in the organization, maintenance and mining of biological information through usage and development of tools, incorporating state-of-the-art engineering, advanced mathematics and computational processes.

Contributes in developing strategies for acquisition of software and hardware.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participates in the establishment of regulated digital environments for the acquisition, storage, integration and mining of scientific data.
  • Participates in developing purpose-built integrated biological databases, novel software and algorithms to facilitate scientific investigation.
  • Uses existing databases and analytical tools for discovery and/or validation of biological processes to meet specific scientific project needs.
  • Supports development and maintenance of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for efficient sample tracking, data acquisition, data storage and dissemination.
  • Participates in testing new and updated bioinformatics tools and software.
  • Consults with researchers to analyse problems, recommend technology-based solutions, or determine computational strategies.
  • Analyses, interprets and communicates research results through conference presentations, scientific publications, or project reports.
  • Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
  • Participates in self and others' education, training and development as applicable.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

Education:


Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree, or Doctor of Science (DSc) Degree from an accredited institution in a scientific discipline relevant to the research field is required.


Experience Required:

Six (6) years of directly related experience post-doctoral degree required.
