The International Potato Center (CIP) is in search of a dedicated and reliable consultant with a strong level of commitment and expertise to:

  • Collect data on pest and disease infestations in field trials and harvested tubers
  • Statistically analyze the collected data and prepare a comprehensive report for the Potato Project

About the project: GIZ is funding a project in Bihar focused on the environmental and social advantages of zero tillage potato cultivation with rice mulch, both on farms and in stations. One potential benefit could be a reduction in pest and disease attacks, and to confirm this, data collection on pests and diseases is crucial. Thus, we are looking for a professional to gather and document this data and analyze the outcomes with the supervision of CIP staff.

This consultant role will be stationed in Patna, Bihar, and will directly liaise with the Senior Research team.

Deliverables:
  • Data collection on pest dynamics from ZT potato-based agronomic and demonstration
  • Compilation and tabulation of findings
Requirements
  • Degree in Post-graduation Agriculture/Horticulture/Plant Protection
  • Specialization in Agricultural Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Life Science
  • Expertise in Plant Protection
  • Field work experience, preferably with potatoes
  • Proficiency in experimental design related to pest and disease dynamics, data collection, and analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office for technical reporting
