Job Purpose

  • The Senior Lean Director in Design and Construction at RSG assumes a pivotal role in spearheading and implementing Lean methodologies across Design & Engineering processes and influencing internal RSG construction stakeholders. Responsible for collaborating with the Design & Engineering (D&E) Technical Core Team (TCT), this role champions cross-functional teams to optimize efficiency, minimize waste, and elevate overall project delivery. Key responsibilities encompass the development and execution of Lean strategies, cultivation of a culture of continuous improvement, and integration of Lean principles into design and construction workflows. Requirements typically include extensive experience in Lean methodologies, a robust background in design and construction, leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive organizational change towards Lean principles.

Job Responsibilities

Functional/Technical Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization to fully adopt Lean principles on all of our projects and in all of our actions reporting to (VDM Leadership) supporting the Red Sea Global D&E Technical Core Team (TCT).
  • The Director of Lean Construction acts as a change agent and drives all Lean implementation and training efforts at Red Sea Global.
  • Position may require to travel up to 40-60% of the time in this role between Riyadh and Red Sea and Amaala project sites.
  • Create and provide programs, on-going training, procedures, protocols, standards, lessons learned and Next (Best) Practices and other techniques to empower employees to become Lean in their day-to-day activities.
  • Promote integrated development and coordination of project delivery across Design, IFC, VDM, Preconstruction, Estimating, IT, Project Management and Field Operations.
  • Lead complex projects that cut across various organizational and functional boundaries
  • Be involved personally and get Company Lean Champions involved in local LCI Chapters (KSA based) as well as participation and presenting at the annual US National LCI Congress.
  • Coordinate the development of lean management guidelines and dissemination of Ideas, Project Spotlights, Lean Discussions and training materials.
  • Lead boot camps in Target Value Design TVD, Pull Planning, sessions internal to Internal Project Design team, TCT, Construction and Virtual Design Management in supporting Design Intent of assets.
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment in Riyadh Saudi Arabia with extensive travel to TCT project worksites supporting design intent and construction.

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports

  • Establish systems to manage Lean initiatives and project workflows. Procedural guidelines ensure the application of Lean methodologies, and standards set benchmarks for quality and efficiency.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Implements metrics and monitoring systems to track and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Identifies and Implements Lean strategies that contribute to environmentally friendly and sustainable project outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Degree (Preferred) While not always mandatory, Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master's in a related field can enhance qualifications and provide a broader skill set.
  • Lean Certification: Possession of professional certifications in Lean methodologies, such as LCI Certification, Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt, is often highly desirable.
  • 25+ years of experience in consultancy or contractors with 15 years in a senior leadership position.
