Role Summary:


Reporting into the Risk Manager, the Risk Staff Engineer will be part of a team that will identify, assess and mitigate or eliminate project risks on a major Saudi rail project.


The Risk Management Team will be responsible for developing the risk management procedures for the project which will be incorporated into the Project Management Plan.

They will use both qualitative and quantitative methods to accomplish the tasks.

The chosen candidate will also be responsible for developing a risk register in the early stages of the project and will update this throughout the project.


The chosen candidate will have an understanding of key engineering and construction concepts and will be able to lead and manage a team of risk management professionals.


Key Responsibilities:
The objective of Risk Staff is to assist the Risk Manager and the Program Team in the successful achievement of the Program objectives by:

  • Comprehensively identifying Risks that might impact on the achievement of the Program Objectives
  • Accurately assessing the potential impacts of the identified Risks
  • Prioritising the requirements for Risk response identification
  • Formulating appropriate responses to the identified Risks
  • Quantifying adequate cost and time provisions for post-response residual Risk impacts
  • Controlling the implementation of identified Risk responses
  • Monitoring changes in Risk exposure, identifying new Risks and modifying responses
The Risk Staff will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables during the first 3 months of the project:

  • Risk Management Strategy, Plan and Procedure for the Program
  • Risk Maturity Assessment
  • Key Stakeholder Identification and Coordination
  • Risk Workshop Facilitation
  • Risk Qualification and Quantification (Monte Carlo Simulation as needed)
  • Risk Register
  • Risk Breakdown Structure
  • Risk te
The successful candidate will have a previous experience in risk management programs & will meet ALL the essential criteria below:

Essential

  • Degree in construction, engineering, business, discipline (or related field)
  • High degree of technical proficiency in implementing risk management strategy, plans and procedures on major construction projects.
  • Ability to effectively identify, analyse and recommend risk mitigation actions
  • Experience of managing others & taking the lead on a project of reasonable size or a number of smaller projects
  • Minimum 8 years experience in a construction , engineering or related project
Desirable

  • Experience on a complex rail system highly preferred
  • Middle East experience preferable
  • Chartered status
