Total Rewards and Compensation Leader provides strategic direction and oversight of the University's total rewards program to attract, engage and retain our most valuable asset - our faculty and staff.

This position is responsible for strategically designing, developing, and implementing competitive infrastructures that deliver on the employee value proposition.

As part of the HR leadership team, this role collaborates to lead and retain a high-performing, results-oriented, and engaged team.

Key collaborations for this role include all the leaders in CoHRE for being responsible to bring the staffing strategy to life.

This position will heavily contribute to the mission and vision of the

Roles & Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities:

Compensation and Benefits Program Design

  • Develop and manage the delivery of employee compensation structures and benefit programs, ensuring the needs of internal stakeholders are met and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Monitor and report on outcomes, initiating remedial actions where appropriate.

Faculty Compensation: Manage the faculty compensation program and provide guidance to the senior leaders on compensation-related decisions.

Researchers Compensation: Manage the researchers compensation program and provide guidance to the University leadership on compensation-related decisions.

Staff Compensation: Manage the university's staff compensation program, for non-academic staff employees and provide guidance to HR senior leaders on compensation-related decisions.

Executive Compensation: Revise and administer pay programs for senior-level faculty and staff, and leadership positions and serve as the liaison between the university and the Board of Trustees' Committee on compensation.

Incentive Program:
Design and manage the implementation of employee incentive programs; ensure compliance with external regulatory and legal requirements.

Executive Reward Program: Develop and manage the delivery of annual and long-term executive compensation programs, providing effective support to the remuneration committee and ensuring that all regulatory and legal requirements are met.

Compensation & Total Rewards Data Management

  • Specify, develop, and test data collection procedures and tools within an area of HR practice to meet defined key principles and ensure compliance with external requirements.

Strategic Responsibilities:

Increased Engagement and Motivation

  • Communicates the plan to employees and talent pool effectively.
  • Monitors business news and market changes for impact on expertise area; use this to shape decisions.

Longer Employee Retention:

  • Lower the attrition rate and retain talent in the university. Increase employee satisfaction to build loyalty and reduce turnover.

Performance Rewarding Culture

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a reputable institute.
  • Related certifications are highly desirable.

Required Experience

  • Proven Total Rewards & Compensation Leader with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience, preferably from a reputable higher education or public institution.

Skills

  • Have a successful track record of leading diverse teams, driving organizational transformation, and building new capabilities.
  • Be a highly influential leader constantly implementing progressive strategies required to structure, build, and maintain one of the university's most valued and visible departments.
  • Superb verbal & written communication skills.
