Job Purpose:


The Lead Engineer, Inspection QA/QC II has direct responsibility and accountability for the day-to-day management, Inspector performance and budgeting for inspection activities within the Mechanical Integrity Department.

Lead Engineer Inspection is responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping in the plants by performing required inspections at timely intervals.

Inspectors examine, inspect, collect information and evaluate inspection data. Superintendent Inspection also provides guidance for recommendations of Inspectors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Typical daily job responsibilities include direct supervision of staff inspectors, and support personnel, supervise and/or update inspection plans using interval based and riskbased inspection analysis methods.
  • Review corrosion and welding concerns, fitness for service assessments, construction and repair vendor surveillance data and participate on Hazops/PHA's, etc. Ensure implementation and compliance with MWSPC Mechanical Integrity Required Standards and Best Practices.
  • Drive safe work practices of all inspection activities within Mechanical Integrity Department.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing a plant/site wide fixed equipment inspection program.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to conception, budgeting, obtaining and scheduling personnel, training and certification of inspection personnel, scheduling and maintaining inspection activities, and sitespecific regulatory requirements and activities.
  • Familiar with all functions and work processes of the inspection organization and its relationship with other departments within Maaden.
  • Continuous improvement of inspection planning systems and processes.
  • Identify inspection gaps associated with fixed equipment bad actors and develop solutions.
  • Active participation in investigations of fixed equipment failures and of leak root cause analysis.
  • Maintaining department Key Performance Indicators and Corporate Metrics.
  • Integrate T/A inspection plans, recommendations, and staffing.
  • Ensure all equipment is inspected within a timely manner to meet all regulatory and company compliance requirements.
  • Support capital project inspection needs.
  • Accountability for making sure all inspection plans are being managed in an efficient manner and meeting the requirements of Maaden Required Standards. Manage the inspectors and inspection program to comply with all OSHA , State Safety Orders, Mining Standards, and Industry Practices required in the construction and/or repair of pressure vessels, piping and other pressure containing equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred

Minimum Experience:

At least 7 years' experience in inspector or mechanical integrity working.

Skills:

  • Proven track record of managing workshop & services for other major Industrial Manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant engineering principles and practices in chemical, mining or relevant in engineering and maintenance fields.
  • Proven track record of managing time limited projects.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment and procedures and engineering systems analysis and evaluation.
  • Excellent relationship building skills (internal and external)
  • Strong work ethic and be able to adhere to company, policies, and standard business etiquette.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills in English required,
  • Selfstarter with mínimal supervision for routine activities.
  • Extensive computer skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) plus other software pertinent to the work performed would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and foster a cooperative team environment.
  • Bilingual or multilingual is a plus.
  • International work experience in remote camp environment.
