Role
We are seeking an experienced Reservoir Simulation Engineer to join the Unconventional Resources Department in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. This role involves managing some of the world's largest unconventional fields. As a senior technical role, we require an expert in reservoir simulation to provide guidance and advice to enhance our reservoir simulation practices. This position is embedded within the Unconventional Resources Department and involves collaborating with leaders and experts from various upstream sectors.
Duties & Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and participate in integrated reservoir simulation studies, encompassing data analysis, model construction, history matching, calibration, and prediction.
- Act as a technical advisor to management on best practices for reservoir simulation and modelling, particularly focusing on unconventional resources.
- Collaborate closely with Petroleum and Operations Engineers to develop and oversee short-term and long-term data gathering plans for their respective fields.
- Utilise petroleum engineering software for tasks such as well test analysis, material balance, production logging, and nodal analysis.
- Apply specialised simulation modelling techniques including fracture modelling, compositional modelling, PVT modelling, and complex well and smart completions.
- Explore and propose alternatives to optimise field development and maximise hydrocarbon recovery from both new and mature fields.
- Provide expert mentoring, training, and in-house technical courses to develop junior engineers.
- Represent the companyin external technical engagements with consultants and vendors, and actively participate in technical societies and groups.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, geophysics, or physics, with an MSc or PhD being desirable.
You must have a minimum of 15 years of intensive experience in reservoir simulation, encompassing both conventional and unconventional fields.
Proficiency in unconventional reservoir simulation, effective teamwork skills, clear communication abilities, and extensive knowledge of standard vendor applications for simulation data processing are essential.
