At John Crane we are looking for a Senior Field Service Engineer who will work within the Regional Engineering team and will report to the Regional Sales & Aftermarket Manager.

You primarily provide on-site (in the field) service to our external customers. When not on-site, you assist with day-to-day technical support to the region.

This includes product selection and specification, troubleshooting, failure diagnosis and will involve working directly with internal and external suppliers and customers.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Field troubleshooting, including analysis of problems / recommendation & implementation of appropriate solutions, meeting with customers in plant or at customer's site to resolve satisfactorily
  • Detailed failure analysis activities, including investigation / reporting / resolution
  • Detailed technical presentations to customers in order to support sales or drive root cause analysis exercises
  • Managing and report personal workload, forecast job leadtimes to meet customer and departmental objectives
  • Visiting customer sites for technical measurement, seal installation and commissioning
  • Working in line with John Crane standards, procedures and policies
  • Ensuring quality & safety within functions/ tasks performed by himself/herself and staff reporting to him/her
  • Being responsible for exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self and others within the organization
  • Ensuring compliance with the applicable HSE instructions, requirements, laws and regulations received from customers, regulatory and statutory bodies.

The Individual

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in engineering and sales.
  • Experience working in refinery rotating equipment/maintenance
  • Engineering knowledge in a proactive multinational and multicultural environment.
  • Knowledge of CAD
  • A strong technical knowledge of John Crane product portfolio is preferred
  • Ability to carry out failure analysis and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Excellent knowledge and use of measuring instrumentation
  • Fluent English, while speaking in Arabic is an advantage
  • Adaptable, flexible and appreciative of an array of cultures and customs.
  • Team player and willing to travel at short notice
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure and a methodical approach to work.
