Finops Specialist

Description
The Finops Specialist is responsible for financial operations activities that involve on-premise and cloud estate consumption, optimization, and cost management, with a primary focus on cloud Finops. This role entails managing and optimizing resources and costs in both on-premise and cloud computing settings, including monitoring cloud usage and costs, identifying cost drivers, implementing cost-saving strategies, and ensuring efficient cloud resource utilization.

The Finops Specialist collaborates closely with cross-functional technical teams like Engineering, Architecture, and IT Operations, as well as Finance teams to align financial operations activities with business goals, enhancing efficiency and cost-effectiveness across on-premise and cloud environments. Analytical skills, financial acumen, and expertise in cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, are essential for effectively managing and optimizing cloud resources and costs.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations Management:

• Perform financial operations activities related to compute, storage, and resource consumption, optimization, and cost management.
• Analyze and optimize resource usage to enhance cost efficiencies and identify potential savings opportunities.
• Develop and implement processes and controls for accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Cloud Finops:

• Utilize cloud financial management tools and techniques to manage and optimize cloud spending.
• Monitor and analyze cloud usage and costs, identify cost drivers, and suggest cost-saving strategies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to execute cloud cost optimization initiatives and measure their impact.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data to offer insights and recommendations.
• Prepare regular reports and dashboards on financial performance, cost trends, and optimization efforts.
• Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management, to facilitate decision-making.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial operations activities with business objectives.
• Engage with stakeholders to grasp their requirements and provide financial insights and recommendations.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on financial operations and offer guidance and assistance to internal teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field optional
• Strong understanding of financial principles and practices, with experience in financial analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, and experience in cloud cost management and optimization.
• Familiarity with financial management tools and systems, including cloud financial management tools.
• Relevant certifications in financial operations, cloud cost management, or finance, e.g. FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Certified Cloud Financial Management, etc., are desirable.
• AZ-900 a must, and other Azure certifications are beneficial.
