Description

Site and Airline Inspections

  • Perform routine inspections, including station facilities, aprons, en-route operations, and bases, along with necessary oversight checks at specified intervals.
  • Evaluate the operator's SMS effectiveness and resource allocation levels.
  • Conduct inspections according to established work schedules, standard procedures, and instructions.
  • Notify the operator in writing of any significant deficiencies found during inspections and request corrective action proposals.
  • Follow up on inspection reports to ensure timely and appropriate actions are taken.
  • Submit inspection and investigation reports as required, following prescribed formats and completing necessary forms.
  • Investigate and report potential violations of aviation laws and safety regulations.
  • Regularly review the operator's relevant documentation to verify accuracy and timely availability to staff.
  • Keep CAA inspectorate staff informed about operational aspects and company developments.

Maintenance and Acquisition of Specialist Skills

  • Stay updated and proficient in specialist skills, human factors, and technological advancements.

Proposals and Revision of Standards

  • Research, develop, and propose specific standards for operator operations.

Communications and Safety Promotion

  • Project a positive image of SACAA to all stakeholders.
  • Provide industry feedback to the Authority.
  • Promote aviation safety by suggesting operational improvements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum - Grade 12 Matriculation and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License

Ideal

  • Relevant National Diploma equivalent to NQF level 6

Experience

  • 5 years as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for civilian or military air transport aircraft.

Ideal

  • Experience dealing with operational or maintenance issues in transport aircraft.
