MIET AFRICA, a regional NGO, requires a Driver/Linkage Officer to work on the Adolescent and Young People AYP Programme. MIET AFRICA is a sub-recipient of AFSA, a principal recipient of the Global Fund Grant for
the grant period ending in March 2025.
The successful candidate will be based in Vryheid, Zululand District, for the period of their contract.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Drive clinical teams and other project staff to various sites across the district to deliver biomedical services
  • Support the clinical team with rendering HIV testing services, and administrative tasks, including setting up service stations
  • Assist the clinical team with collecting health products and materials including delivering specimens to clinics
  • Manage the maintenance of vehicles including checking and filling up fuel and oil and arranging periodic services
  • Report mechanical defects of the vehicle timeously
  • Maintain and ensure submission of all vehicle documents including vehicle logs, petrol slips and service receipts
  • Conduct advocacy to mobilize young people to enroll in the programme
  • Plan, organize and implement support programmes for sex partners of young people ages 10-24 as per programme requirements
  • Ensure that clients are successfully linked to care - these include HIV positive clients as well as clients
  • needing linkage to health and psychosocial services
  • Conduct tracing of clients who have missed their appointments or defaulted from care
  • Ensure adherence to DOH policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures SOPs
  • Ensure strict adherence to the policies, guidelines and SOPs of MIET AFRICA, NACOSA and the Global Fund
  • Ensure allocated targets are met within specified timeframes
  • Ensure that all programme activities are documented and captured using the correct tools and through the biometric system
  • Ensure meaningful, effective, and timeous reporting of all programme activities
  • Maintain good relationships with stakeholders
  • Work with the team and support them in their duties

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Trained on HIV counselling and testing with a minimum of two years' experience
  • Valid and unendorsed code 10 driver's licence
  • Advantageous - valid public driving permit PDP
  • Experience working with young people and children
  • Good communication skills written and verbal in English and Isizulu
  • Being a team player with excellent people skills
  • No criminal record or registration on any sexual offences register
