Role Purpose

The Business and Projects Specialist will play an active role in the Business & Strategic Enablement division carrying out its varied functions. This would include supporting leadership and internal divisions in activities related to strategy, research, planning, project management and business processes. This role is key for the effective delivery of the sector strategy.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

  • Play an active role in strategy development and refinement – this would include supporting internal divisions in their strategy development and the assimilation into the sector strategy and implementation plan
  • Support in the development and delivery of the sector strategy through hypothesis development, scenario testing, feasibility studies and related tasks
  • Support in the development of business cases across multiple scenarios, including for business lines, subsidiary companies, assets, joint ventures, etc.
  • Assist in developing strategic reports/ opinions, utilizing a combination of research, financial analysis, and insight generation, to foster discussion and decision making across divisions and within sector
  • Support in the annual planning and budgeting cycle, supporting across the sector as required
  • Proactively identify inter-sectoral and inter-divisional links and respective alignment of strategy and initiatives portfolio
  • Support on all sector reporting requirements (incl. Ad hoc requests), ensuring the provision of accurate, appropriate and decision ready information
  • Assist in developing the annual implementation plans. Work with divisions to monitor status (incl. progress, risks, and challenges), provide regular updates to management and complete related reporting
  • Support in the management and delivery of sector projects
  • Participate as needed in any sector committees to oversee execution of projects from a quality and timeline perspective and periodically review & report progress and address escalated issues
  • Provide periodic reports regarding project progress, challenges, risks and mitigation plans
  • Support in the preparation reports for leadership on the current and forecasted progress/ completion of key assets and initiatives, with executive levels insights on key assets, requirements, and risks
  • In the case of challenges or risks, support divisions or sector leadership in the development of pragmatic and considered mitigation measure and/ or recovery plan
  • Proactively identify risks for the sector (incl. strategic, environmental, operational, reputational, etc.), assist in managing the respective registers and reporting, as well as working with leadership and management in the development of mitigation or management plans
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the long-term sport financing framework
  • Support the sector leadership and divisions in developing their respective commercial models and finding models, including identifying the best structures (e.g., subsidiary, JV, etc.)

Background, Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in Strategy/Consulting, Business analysis, or related
  • Needs to have significant experience in formulating strategic and analytical recommendations
  • Ability to research, formulate insights, and communicate clearly and concisely (both orally and in writing)
  • Needs to have proven experience of independently managing workloads
  • Experience in sport sector is beneficial, but not necessary
  • Entrepreneurial experience a plus

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent level of experience
