Role Purpose

The BIM Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of GoA region BIM processes and workflows. Work closely with the project's digital delivery team and reports to the Project Director. The BIM manager roles and responsibilities shall include the following but are not limited to:

  • Develop, Implement and maintain the CADD/BIM standards/Procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects, and ensure the all the digital content is produced, stored and shared utilizing the latest technologies and practices.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define BIM requirements, goals and objectives and develop project-specific BIM execution plans. Drive the adoption and integration of latest BIM tools throughout the organization. In-depth understanding of BIM principles, strong technical proficiency, and excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • BIM Project Coordination: Provide guidance and support to project teams in implementing BIM processes and workflows. Ensure effective coordination and collaboration between various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • BIM Modeling and Documentation: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and quality control of BIM models and associated documentation. Review and validate BIM models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Facilitate clash detection and resolution processes to identify and resolve conflicts within the BIM models.
  • Establishing, monitoring and maintaining project-level CDE and associated workflow (i.e., model coordination, collaboration, model federation, model health, LOD compliance, and clash management) in alignment with project scope and EIR, including routine CDE validation checks for compliance to BEP and project BIM standards and procedures.
  • Provide detailed advice and support to ensure that project delivery teams are following the BIM Execution plan and Project BIM requirements.
  • Fluency and experience with Dassault Systèmes 3DExperience, Digital Twin industry standards and BIM collaborative working processes.
  • Assessing BIM capacity & capability of the supply chain during tender & bidding
  • Drive standardization of CAD/BIM processes and tools within the delivery teams and supply chain.
  • Reviewing lead appointed parties' BIM Execution Plans. Verifying that contractor's BIM processes, data quality, and completeness tools have been put in place.
  • Ensuring CDE workflows with respect to design management, construction management, and change control have been institutionalized at the project level to support the BIM identified use-cases.
  • Lead and conduct Model review and Clash management sessions with the AEC supply chain.

  • Ensure construction documents accuracy based on discipline BIM Modeling and the collaboration and coordination with other disciplines for design-changes and model challenges.
  • Review of profiles/ TCS / Running cross sections, drainage plans, road signs, markings, junction layouts-at grade, roundabout or grade separated, utility plan, traffic management plan and grading plans, sketches & figures.
  • Chairing BIM review meetings and workshops
  • Managing the business' BIM library
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate project teams on BIM software, processes, and best practices. And talent upskilling per identified needs. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to team members regarding BIM software and workflows.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements and trends in BIM technology and methodologies.
  • BIM Standards and QA/QC: Establish and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and best practices.

Conduct regular quality checks and audits to ensure compliance with BIM standards and identify areas for improvement. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance BIM processes and workflows.

Background, Skills & Qualifications

 Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of PAS BS-1192 and ISO19650 standards and application of those concepts and principles on the Projects Life Cycle.
  • Industry BIM Certification (Revit Professional, CM-BIM, or related) is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of Autodesk, ESRI and Bentley 3D/BIM authoring Platforms including features, functions, and limitations,
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with the following: Collaboration and data management solutions: BIM 360/ACC Suite, ACONEX, Assemble, Synchro, ACAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Revizto, Navisworks, 3D/BIM-enabled quantity take-off, 3D/BIM-enabled cost estimating tools, LOIN compliance of the Information Models across the project lifecycle, virtual reality, asset management, COBie integration into the CAFM/CMMS software's. Laser Scanning Software AVEVA or Kohera3D or Leica Geosystems or Faro,etc., BIM based LEED energy simulation tools, using data schema files gbXML or IFC (Industry Foundation Classes),
  • Provide necessary technical support and Information Management expertise and guidance to the Digital Twin Strategy team.
  • Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Design/Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and other modern contractual delivery methods
  • Understands project workflows from design, estimation, coordination, construction support and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, workflows, data formats and inter-operability techniques
  • Proficient in oral and written communications skills. Collaborates well in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Architectural, Engineering or Construction Management
  • 8+ years of experience in AEC, EPCM projects with 2+ years in a supervisory role. Have experience or exposure in Design from an Infrastructure & Transportation discipline within a consulting background.
