Ring is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer who will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to both hardware design and validation efforts.

Key job responsibilities

1. Develop and implement detailed validation plans tailored to specific hardware designs
2. Contribute to the design of new hardware products, including schematics, PCB layout, and component selection
3. Collaborate with design teams to understand requirements and ensure designs meet specifications
4. Analyze and interpret data from validation tests, offering insights and recommendations
5. Document validation processes, findings, and insights in a structured and clear manner
6. Maintain, calibrate, and oversee the use of validation equipment to guarantee consistent results
7. Work cross-functionally to troubleshoot and address any hardware issues identified during validation

A day in the life

As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on the full product lifecycle - from early design phase through validation and into production. You'll collaborate closely with electrical engineers, layout designers, and technical program managers to define validation requirements and influence the hardware design for testability and reliability. Your work will involve both validation testing to ensure quality and reliability, as well as hands-on design work to create the next generation of Ring products. You'll also help identify design risks, propose improvements, and even guide test coverage strategy. When you look at the test results, you can figure out what we can do better.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related fields.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience working on product development in R&D environment.
3. Strong understanding of schematics and PCB layout. Ability to review, analyze circuit design and provide recommendation for design teams.
4. Proficiency in hardware design software such as Altium 365, Cadence, or similar eCAD tools.
5. Proficiency in creating and executing test plans for hardware components and technical document skills.
6. Hands-on experience in the lab environments with test equipment such as oscilloscope, multi-meter, etc.
7. Strong problem-solving skills for identifying hardware failures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in New Production Introduction (NPI). Understanding of product lifecycle from prototyping to mass production.
2. Experience in RF Testing/Signal Integrity & Power Integrity/Acoustic Testing.
3. Experience in working with Contract Manufacturing.
4. Experience working closely with design, firmware, software, and manufacturing teams.
5. Experience with programming languages such as Python.
