Job Overview:

As an IT Production Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) within pharmaceutical production. Your role will ensure GMP compliance, system reliability, and process efficiency while providing IT infrastructure support and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with operations, quality assurance, and automation teams to maintain system integrity and data accuracy.

This position requires strong expertise in database management, software development, and pharmaceutical IT systems, blending technical IT skills with pharmaceutical process knowledge to drive operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage IT projects related to production systems, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  2. Monitor MES system performance, troubleshoot issues, and minimize downtime to support continuous production.
  3. Configure, customize, and maintain MES software to enhance manufacturing workflows.
  4. Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to ensure IT security and efficiency.
  5. Work closely with production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs teams to align IT systems with production needs.
  6. Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to comply with GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations.
  7. Ensure data integrity, electronic batch records, and compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.
  8. Provide training and technical support to production staff on IT systems and tools.
  9. Work with external vendors and service providers to ensure the timely delivery of IT services.
  10. Mentor and guide junior IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  11. Analyze manufacturing processes to identify optimization opportunities and efficiency improvements.
  12. Use MES data to reduce downtime, improve production quality, and streamline operations.
  13. Ensure seamless integration between MES, ERP, SCADA, and automation systems.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related technical field.

Experience:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in MES administration or production IT roles in the pharmaceutical (or food) industry.
  2. Proven experience in managing MES system deployment projects from conception to completion.

Technical Skills:

  1. Strong knowledge of MES, ERP systems, and production-related technologies.
  2. Experience with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Wonderware, SAP ME/MII).
  3. Proficiency in manufacturing systems, databases (SQL), SCADA, and PLC automation systems.
  4. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, ISO).

Additional Skills:

  1. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and data interpretation skills.
  2. Ability to work in a cross-functional team and communicate technical concepts effectively.
