ASMO aims to be operational in 2025 and provide reliable end-to-end integrated procurement and supply chain services for companies across the industrial, energy, chemical, and petrochemical sectors. Our focus customers in the short term will be Saudi Aramco and its Affiliates. In the long term, all the industrial sectors within Saudi Arabia aim to reach the MENA region.

Objective:

The ESG Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of environmental, governance and safety measures and fostering a culture of safety, security, governance, and environmental responsibility within ASMO. The role holder ensures the maintenance of robust governance frameworks within ASMO's HSE management and oversees the development and implementation of governance policies and procedures, aligning them with industry standards and fostering compliance across the organization. This role will also ensure that ASMO maintains the highest standards of environmental responsibility and sustainability; the Specialist will work closely with the HSE team to implement environmental initiatives, policies, and guidelines, aligning with ASMO's commitment to safety, security, and environmental stewardship.

General Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the HSE team to implement safety initiatives and programs across the organization, ensuring alignment with HSE strategy and objectives.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant safety laws, regulations, and industry standards, actively managing and mitigating safety-related risks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, contributing to the overall safeguarding of employees, assets, and the environment.
  • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a robust Safety Management System, encompassing risk assessments, incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Support the Head of Sustainability & ESG in overseeing ASMO's response to incidents, emergencies, and accidents, ensuring timely and effective mitigation measures.
  • Collaborate on the development and delivery of comprehensive HSE training programs, equipping employees with the necessary knowledge and skills for a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible workplace.
  • Contribute to the tracking and reporting of key HSE performance indicators and metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to ensure transparent communication and collaboration on safety, security, and environmental matters.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Sustainability & ESG to develop, communicate, and execute governance strategies aligning with the COE's objectives for operational excellence, sustainability, and safety.
  • Provide support in implementing governance initiatives across the organization, ensuring alignment with HSE goals and overarching objectives.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to ensure effective execution of governance programs and initiatives, fostering a culture of safety, security, and environmental stewardship.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards, maintaining a proactive approach to governance risk management.
  • Collaborate with the HSE team to oversee ASMO's response to environmental incidents, emergencies, and accidents, ensuring timely and effective mitigation measures are taken.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives in alignment with ASMO's environmental and social responsibility commitments, promoting eco-friendly practices and supporting environmental stewardship efforts.
  • Implement strategies to minimize ASMO's environmental footprint, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
  • Recommend training and development interventions for team members to build their capabilities.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Implement all relevant Department's policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements, policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university is required.
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or equivalent from a recognized and accredited university is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.
  • 7 years' experience in similar or related field.
