Job Purpose

As an HSE Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure the well-being of employees and compliance with industry regulations. This role involves identifying and mitigating potential hazards unique to the precast concrete manufacturing environment.

Key Accountability Areas

  1. Precast Process Safety:

    • Understand the specific safety considerations associated with precast concrete manufacturing processes.
    • Develop and implement safety measures for handling, casting, and transporting precast elements.

  2. Equipment Safety:

    • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards.
    • Collaborate with maintenance teams to address equipment safety concerns promptly.

  3. Casting Area Safety:

    • Implement safety protocols for workers involved in the casting and molding of precast concrete elements.
    • Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in casting areas.

  4. Material Handling and Storage:

    • Develop and enforce procedures for the safe handling, storage, and transportation of raw materials used in precast manufacturing.

  5. Crane and Lifting Safety:

    • Oversee the safe operation of cranes and lifting equipment used in precast operations.
    • Conduct regular inspections of lifting equipment and ensure proper training for operators.

  6. Silica Dust and Respiratory Protection:

    • Address silica dust exposure concerns through the implementation of effective control measures.
    • Provide training on the proper use of respiratory protection equipment.

  7. Fall Protection:

    • Implement fall protection measures, especially in areas where employees are working at heights during precast production.
    • Conduct regular inspections of fall protection systems.

  8. Waste Management:

    • Develop and oversee waste management procedures, particularly in the handling and disposal of waste materials generated during precast operations.

  9. Emergency Response Planning:

    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans specific to the precast industry.
    • Conduct drills and exercises to ensure the readiness of the response team.

Role Accountability

  • Ability to obtain updated soft and technical skills related to the job.

Delivery:

  • Perform the planned activities to meet the operational and development targets as per delivery schedules.
  • Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
  • Provide a periodic report detailing the deviation and execution of planned tasks.

Problem-Solving:

  • Solve any related problems that arise and escalate any complex operational issues.

Quality:

  • Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control processes including specifications for products or processes or related activities.

Business Process Improvements:

  • Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities as much as possible.

Compliance:

  • Comply with related policy and procedures and work instructions.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined areas of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.

Academic Qualification: Diploma Degree in Occupational Safety & Health Tech

Work Experience: 2 to 5 Years

Technical / Functional Competencies: Safety, Safety Awareness and Compliance, Safety Reviews and Inspections
