Position Overview

The Process Modeler is responsible for analyzing, documenting, and modeling business processes across various functional areas of the organization. This role combines technical skills in business process notation with analytical abilities to understand complex organizational workflows. The Process Modeler works with stakeholders at all levels to create accurate representations of current processes and supports improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Process Documentation and Modeling

  • Document "As-Is" business processes using standardized Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN 2.0)
  • Create end-to-end process maps that clearly illustrate process flows, decision points, and handoffs
  • Establish and maintain process hierarchies (Level 0-5) with appropriate linkages
  • Develop process models that accurately represent current operations, including roles, systems, and business rules
  • Ensure standard naming conventions and modeling formats are consistently applied
  • Document process inputs, outputs, triggers, and outcomes

Process Analysis and Discovery

  • Conduct interviews and facilitate workshops with process owners and subject matter experts
  • Gather process requirements through observation and documentation reviews
  • Analyze current processes to identify integration points, dependencies, and system interactions
  • Document process owners, stakeholders, and responsible parties (RACI matrix)
  • Identify and document control points and compliance requirements
  • Map information flows, system interactions, and data exchanges

Process Repository Management

  • Maintain process documentation in the organization's process repository
  • Ensure version control and proper documentation of process changes
  • Create metadata for processes to enable effective search and categorization
  • Establish linkages between related processes and sub-processes
  • Support the maintenance and growth of the process knowledge base

Collaboration and Communication

  • Translate technical process information into formats accessible to various stakeholders
  • Present process models to stakeholders for validation and feedback
  • Work closely with IT, business analysts, and process improvement teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process accuracy
  • Document and communicate process dependencies and integration points
  • Identify potential process improvement opportunities during documentation
  • Support process improvement initiatives with accurate baseline documentation
  • Assist in the development of "To-Be" process models
  • Document proposed process changes and enhancements
  • Support the analysis of process performance metrics

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in business process modeling or analysis
  • Experience working with cross-functional business processes
  • Demonstrated expertise in process mapping and modeling techniques

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN 2.0)
  • Experience with industry-standard process mapping and BPM tools
  • Understanding of process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.)
  • Knowledge of systems analysis and integration concepts
  • Familiarity with major enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, etc.)
  • Must have skills (Visio/Spark or any other BPM platform)

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to translate complex processes into clear documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to interview and extract process information from various stakeholders
