  • Develop and implement occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry-specific safety standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety procedures and documentation.
  • Risk Assessment and Incident Prevention:
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee incident investigations to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Implement control measures to mitigate risks and reduce workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Training and Awareness:
  • Organize and conduct safety training programs and workshops for employees.
  • Promote a safety culture through ongoing communication, signage, and employee engagement.
  • Provide safety briefings to contractors and visitors entering the premises.
  • Site Inspections and Audits:
  • Perform regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to ensure compliance.
  • Inspect equipment, machinery, and tools to ensure safe operations.
  • Report and document unsafe practices or conditions and track corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test emergency preparedness.
  • Maintain records of fire drills, first-aid certifications, and other safety-related activities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and training.
  • Prepare and submit reports on safety performance and compliance status.
  • Work with insurance and legal teams to handle workers' compensation claims.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH or First Aid are highly desirable.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience 3 years as a Safety Officer or in a similar role, preferably in Construction Industry.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in the region or industry.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations professionally.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and MS Office Suite.
  • Physically capable of conducting site inspections and responding to emergencies.
  • Leadership and teamwork.
  • Risk management and mitigation.
  • Training and development.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with frequent site visits.
  • May require work in hazardous environments or during irregular hours for inspections or emergency situations.
