Job Description
The Network Engineer will be a critical member of our IT infrastructure team, responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization's networking solutions to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and best practices, and will be adept at troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining network functionality and security, coupled with an eagerness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies in a fast-paced environment. The Network Engineer will collaborate closely with IT teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to support corporate networking initiatives and assist in the ongoing evolution of our network architecture.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience with network configuration and troubleshooting, ideally using Windows, Linux, or comparable systems.

Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing/switching concepts.

Familiarity with network architecture design and network performance optimization techniques.

Experience with firewall management and security protocols, including familiarity with common security appliances.

Ability to analyze network performance metrics and utilize network monitoring tools effectively.

Excellent problem-solving capabilities, with an emphasis on analytical thinking and resolving complex technical issues.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Willingness to engage in, and passion for, continuous learning about evolving technologies in the networking domain.

Capability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute positively to collective goals.

Experience in maintaining network documentation, including configuration records, process documentation, and incident reports.

Prior involvement in assisting with network migrations or upgrades is a plus.

Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of network tasks is preferred.

Effective time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.

Job Responsibilities

Design, configure, and implement network solutions that meet the company's requirements for performance and security.

Monitor network performance metrics and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure optimal operation.

Assist in the management of network security protocols, including the configuration of firewalls and VPNs to protect corporate information assets.

Collaborate with senior engineers on network design projects, actively contributing innovative ideas and solutions.

Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, including diagrams, protocols, and troubleshooting steps.

Provide technical support to end-users in diagnosing network-related issues, ensuring timely resolution to minimize disruption.

Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on networking industry trends and best practices.

Assist in evaluating new networking technologies and recommend solutions to improve the company's network infrastructure.

Conduct regular network audits and vulnerability assessments to enhance security posture and compliance with industry standards.

Support the organization's disaster recovery planning by ensuring resilient network architecture.

Engage in cross-functional projects, contributing networking insights and expertise to the success of integrated technology initiatives.

Required Skills

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to identifying and resolving network issues.

Proficient in the use of network monitoring tools and diagnostic equipment such as Wireshark or SolarWinds.

Solid grasp of computer networking fundamentals and best practices for enterprise-level networking.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on technical documentation and stakeholder collaboration.

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and methodologies within a dynamic work environment.

Team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to support colleagues and share knowledge effectively.

Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in network configurations and documentation.

Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage project timelines efficiently.

Basic coding/scripting abilities for automating routine network tasks and improving operational efficiency.
