Religious Counselor

A Religious Counselor for Addiction provides spiritual and emotional support to individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction. This role combines therapeutic techniques with religious and spiritual guidance to help clients achieve recovery and maintain a healthy, balanced life.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Spiritual Counseling: Offer faith-based guidance and support to clients, helping them integrate their spiritual beliefs into the recovery process.
2. Individual and Group Therapy: Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions and facilitate group therapy meetings focusing on addiction recovery through a spiritual lens.
3. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess clients' mental, emotional, and spiritual needs, and develop personalized treatment plans.
4. Educational Programs: Create and lead educational programs that inform clients about addiction, recovery, and the role of spirituality in healing.
5. Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, offering spiritual comfort and practical assistance.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, addiction specialists, and religious leaders to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
7. Resource Referral: Refer clients to additional resources such as medical treatment and social services.
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, treatment plans, and client progress.
9. Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions with clients.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field or finished high school.
• Licensure/Certification: Certification as an addiction counselor or related licensure is a plus.

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a professional religious counselor preferable in addiction & mental health centers. Previous experience in counseling, particularly in addiction or substance abuse, is highly desirable.
