Job Description:

The Junior Application Developer is an integral part of the software development team, tasked with the design, development, and maintenance of robust applications that meet both functional and technical requirements. This role requires the application of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design specification, coding, testing, and deployment. The Junior Application Developer must be adept at collaborating with team members and stakeholders to gather and define requirements while ensuring coding standards and best practices are adhered to. The position requires a foundational knowledge of programming languages, version control systems, and development methodologies, combined with the ability to adapt to new technologies and frameworks. Successful candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and contributing to the overall success of the team while helping to optimize user experience through innovative application solutions.

Job Requirements:
  1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Proven understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns.
  3. Experience with relational and non-relational database systems, including SQL.
  4. Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
  5. Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience participating in Agile ceremonies (like sprints and retrospectives).
  6. Ability to write and execute unit tests and understand the principles of Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot applications effectively.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  10. A strong desire to learn new technologies and continuously develop one's technical skills.
  11. Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) frameworks and methodologies.
  12. Experience with application development as part of academic projects or internships will be an advantage.
  13. Basic knowledge of DevOps practices for application deployment and monitoring.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the gathering and analysis of application requirements from stakeholders to design functional software solutions.
  2. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and collaboration among team members to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
  3. Develop, test, and maintain robust applications using appropriate programming languages and frameworks.
  4. Write and execute automated unit tests to ensure application functionality and compliance with technical specifications.
  5. Debug and resolve application issues in collaboration with senior developers and QA team members.
  6. Document technical specifications, system requirements, and changes made to applications for reference and training purposes.
  7. Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends in application development to continually improve skills.
  8. Participate actively in Agile development processes, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning meetings, and retrospectives.
  9. Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement visual elements that enhance user experience within the application.
  10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies within the team.
  11. Support application deployment and monitor performance in collaboration with DevOps or operations teams.
Required Skills:
  1. Basic knowledge of database management systems and SQL queries.
  2. Familiarity with version control practices, especially using Git.
  3. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  5. Willingness to learn and adapt to new programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  6. Understanding of software development lifecycle, including Agile methodologies.
  7. Experience in writing and maintaining documentation for development processes.
  8. Basic familiarity with automated testing frameworks and principles.
  9. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality code.
