About The MEP Procurement Manager Position
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented MEP Procurement Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes within the construction industry, with a focus on sourcing, negotiating, managing supplier relationships and professional working experience with well-known PMC's in the region. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies to support construction projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Supplier Identification and Management: Identify potential suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
- Material Sourcing and Purchasing: Source and purchase construction materials and equipment in accordance with project requirements and budgetary constraints. Coordinate with project managers to determine material needs and timelines.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
- Consultant and PMC Engagement: Liaise proactively with consultants and internationally recognized Project Management Consultancies (PMCs) in the region. Ensure procurement strategies align with stakeholder requirements and expectations. Communicate progress, address concerns, and maintain strong, collaborative relationships to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Analyze procurement costs and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Develop and manage procurement budgets for construction projects.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate procurement risks, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and quality issues. Implement contingency plans to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
- Quality Control: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that purchased materials and services meet project specifications and industry standards. Address any quality issues or non-conformities in a timely manner.
- Vendor Performance Evaluation: Monitor vendor performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and contractual obligations. Conduct periodic vendor reviews and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing procurement practices in the construction sector. Stay updated on changes in regulations and incorporate them into procurement processes.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and correspondence. Generate regular reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and vendor performance metrics.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in procurement department within the construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Managerial roles.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
- Proven track record of negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
