Job Description

1. MAIN JOB PURPOSE

Perform routine analytical techniques related to established sample preparation procedures.

2. REPORTING LINE

Report to the Sample Preparation Shift Supervisor.

3. RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the quality and quantity of samples prepared, resulting in an assay paste that is representative of the original sample.

  1. Understand sample preparation procedures.
  2. Able to perform these procedures in a safe and diligent manner.
  3. Day shift maintenance with sample preparation equipment.
  4. Delivery of quality samples to all sections of the laboratory.

4. SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES

4.1 Safety

  1. Ensure PPE is worn at all times.
  2. Ensure correct hygiene procedures are followed.
  3. Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  4. Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor or management.
  5. Ensure that SGS Q&HSE procedures are implemented and followed.
  6. Be diligent about safety while working.

4.2 Operational

  1. Actively participate in all shift activities as required by supervisors to ensure that customer processing requirements are met.
  2. Report all necessary maintenance work to be carried out to ensure normal operation.
  3. Maintain a clean work area and assist in regular cleaning and maintenance work.
  4. Ensure that all sample preparation procedures are followed as per specified instructions.

4.3 Quality Control

  1. Contribute to maintaining accurate record keeping and control systems for all documents.
  2. Ensure that all non-conformities are recorded, repaired, or reported as required.
  3. Ensure all QC samples are taken according to specifications.

4.4 Administration

  1. Keep management informed of problems within the laboratory.
  2. Advise management if an item is low in stock.
  3. Participate in training as required.
  4. Maintain good relations between all client personnel.
  5. Maintain good relations between all relevant government authorities and community assemblies.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Have at least one year of experience in a similar position.
  3. Be able to work with little supervision.
  4. Understand sample preparation procedures.
  5. Able to operate all sample preparation equipment.
