The Contracts Engineer's role is to review and maintain knowledge of Terms and Conditions of all contracts. Identify and report potential problem areas, particularly those that are likely to give rise to claims.

Generally monitor and report on the progress of all contracts. Flag issues that might result in delay or claim and advise the project manager of any risks that will affect the overall timely delivery of the project or significant cost escalation or potential opportunities for cost reduction. Provide proactive advice to minimize claims and delays.

Major Functions:

  1. Advise on all contractual matters and provide contractual support and guidance to the Projects Manager.
  2. Administer and manage the pre-award activities and tender process of the contracting packages.
  3. Ensure completeness and validity of contractual requirements.
  4. Manage payments to Sub-contractors.
  5. Ensure prompt submittal and completeness of valuations.
  6. Review, negotiate and prepare claim settlements with the Client/Subcontractors.
  7. Establish a claim register and ensure that proper claim records are maintained.
  8. Provide mediation when required.
  9. Negotiate contracts and claims with contractors where necessary for the best interest of the company.
  10. Conduct final measure on work executed and prepare and agree final accounts.
  11. Manage and lead the close-out of contracts.
  12. Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and coordinate with the legal department as needed.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have a Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years experience in similar work with progressively increasing responsibility.

Preferred candidate with Gulf experience on major Infrastructure projects.

Candidates must be proficient in English, both written and oral.
