Summary
Responsible for the clinical and medication use policy dimensions of the Pharmacy Automation Systems and other solutions. Operates and maintains automated dispensing system and Robotics in Ambulatory Care pharmacies and/or inpatient setting.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintains security and confidentiality of automation solutions and staff passwords.
- Maintains an up-to-date robotics user files and ensures addition of new users, assignment of passwords and appropriate user privileges, and deletion of terminated users in a timely manner.
- Provides training to staff and orients new employees.
- Maintains drug database for ADM systems, Carousels, IV automation, PARx, and robotic dispensing and workflow.
- Coordinates with the vendor for robot updates and new implementation plans as required.
- Coordinates with the vendor for updating the drug library and adding drug images on a regular basis.
- Loads and calibrates new inventory items in Automated Dispensing Cabinet and dispensing robots.
- Inspects medications every month, and ensures removal of expired and unused medications and reconciliation of inventories.
- Monitors system functionalities in ambulatory care/inpatient setting.
- Facilitates the adoption and use of automated dispensing system in ambulatory care/inpatient setting.
- Performs troubleshooting of system errors and contacts the vendor (local and/or international) customer support for system maintenance when required.
- Serves as a role model and represents the department in a professional manner.
- Generates appropriate reports at specified items.
- Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs and analyses data conversion needs.
- Follows all Hospital related Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: Master's or Pharm.D. / Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy is required.
Experience Required: Four (4) years of related experience with Master's, Pharm.D./ Bachelor's plus accredited residency program by SCFHS, or six (6) years with Pharm.D. / Bachelor's Degree is required.
Other Requirements:
- Certification of Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS); is preferred.
- Advanced training/certification in pharmacy automation systems is required.
