School Psychologist

The job of School Psychologist is done for the purpose of providing school psychological services to children, providing screening, assessment, and individual or group counseling, collaborating with staff, parents, and outside agencies as appropriate, and ensuring compliance with the program's financial, legal, and administrative requirements.
This position will be 184 days (1.0 FTE) starting with the 2025/2026 school year.
This position can be a combination of on-site and teletherapy from home. The staff member will be on-site three days per week and provide teletherapy two days per week.
Additional compensation beyond the base salary includes:
- $5,000 signing stipend
- 3% of the base contract for serving multiple sites
- Mileage to assigned school districts reimbursed
- Additional travel stipends available dependent on number of miles traveled
- $40 monthly cell phone stipend
Responsibilities:
- Administers standardized and supplemental assessments for the purpose of measuring the intellectual, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development of children and determining eligibility for services in conformance with state and federal regulations.
- Assesses students' intellect, adaptive, academic, social, and emotional development for the purpose of determining student eligibility for services, developing behavior plans, and/or making recommendations.
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in conformance with established guidelines.
- Compiles information from a variety of sources (e.g. teachers, nurse, probation officer, mental health agencies, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of producing a comprehensive evaluation report in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel, and outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services, making recommendations, and coordinating services with those of other disciplines.
- Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. evaluation/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, manifestation meetings, disciplinary proceedings, services with outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing behavior plans, and providing information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Establishes necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources for the purpose of delivering services to students and staff and achieving the goals of IEPs.
- Maintains files and records (e.g. evaluation reports, student files, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and compliance.
- Oversees assigned paraprofessionals for the purpose of providing guidance and ensuring compliance with program, agency, state, and federal requirements.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. training, IEPs, team meetings, parent conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information.
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g. summary reports, recommendations, Medicaid billing, behavioral plans, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
- Provides individual and group services to eligible students for the purpose of improving educational performance and conduct.
- Researches resource and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' needs.
- Responds to inquiries (e.g. parents, teachers, staff, students, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and referral as appropriate.
- Serves as a liaison between local school districts and NEWESD 101 for the purpose of ensuring services are delivered in compliance with established regulations.
- Trains staff on interventions, special education processes, etc. for the purpose of ensuring compliance with agency, state, and federal regulations.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Performs related duties as assigned. Related duties may not specifically be listed but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.
Skills: Operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications, planning and managing projects, preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Knowledge: Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios, review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and speak persuasively to implement desired actions, and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings, and events, gather, collate, and classify data, and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances, work with data utilizing defined but different processes, and operate equipment using defined methods.
Education: Master's degree in job-related area.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Washington State educational staff associate certificate with appropriate endorsement, valid driver's license, required auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation.
Clearances: WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance/fingerprinting (at employee's expense).
