Data Center Operations designs, installs & maintains the world's largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. We are looking for skilled Data Centre Operations Tech at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited ("ADSIPL") with a passion for technology to help us expand AWS Cloud offerings to the next level.

Mid 2012, AWS S3 web service accepted its 1 trillionth object, currently accepting more than 40,000 objects uploaded every second on a daily basis. Our content delivery AWS service, CloudFront, has expanded its Data Centers presence by over 50% worldwide in the last 12 months and is expected to increase further.

The Opportunity: Data Centre Operations Tech

This role offers a chance to work in some of the most advanced data centers globally. ADSIPL's data centers are large-scale, high-density facilities where you will help shape the future of Cloud technology in India.

A Data Centre Operations Tech may serve as the primary contact for both internal customers (such as Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Developers, Database Engineers, Technical Operations) and external vendors and service providers.

Your daily challenges will vary. Key responsibilities include:

Problem Solving: Maintain high system reliability by efficiently resolving trouble tickets, including:

  • Escalation point and troubleshooting for all Systems and Network hardware issues
  • Deep troubleshooting of Linux server issues
  • XEN virtualization troubleshooting
Technical: Troubleshoot issues across Platforms, including Systems, Networking, Power, and Mechanical components.
  • Remediation of physical layer outages
  • Address power issues on racks
  • Participate in power and cooling events
Operations: Meet 24x7 on-call requirements and respond during shift rotations.
  • Install & configure racks of hosts according to SLAs
  • Triage & resolve trouble tickets
  • Act as point of contact for high severity issues
  • Physical replacement of server and network parts
  • Ensure proper rotation of spares
  • Contribute to metrics for customer uptime
  • Enforce security best practices
  • Interact with vendors & contractors
  • Suggest operational improvements
Project Management: Participate in and deliver small to mid-scale projects, contribute to team meetings, and help build India's largest Cloud infrastructure.

Additional responsibilities include mentoring staff, participating in hiring, and collaborating on operational initiatives.

Key job responsibilities include troubleshooting hardware issues, maintaining system reliability, supporting physical data center activities, and sharing knowledge with the team. The role involves 24/7 shift work and physical tasks such as lifting equipment up to 20kg and working in confined or elevated spaces, adhering to safety guidelines.
