We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Director (Erection) to oversee the full Greenfield operations of building a state-of-the-art steel factory in Saudi Arabia. Our client is one of the leading actors in the global steel industry, and this project represents a significant milestone in their expansion plans.
As the Project Director (Erection), you will have direct supervision over the full scope of the erection process in the steel factory construction. You will be responsible for ensuring the full consistency of the Punch List and leading its resolution. Additionally, you will take on the role of Project Controls, which was externally sourced, to oversee project progress and trigger necessary corrections throughout the erection phase. Your commitment extends until the Punch List can be delegated within the Plant and Corporate Structures, and the plant has been operational for at least 6 months.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Erection Supervision and Punch List Management**:
Provide direct supervision and guidance for the entire erection process of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure.
Ensure full consistency of the Punch List, identifying all outstanding items requiring resolution.
Lead the Punch List solution, working closely with relevant stakeholders to address and resolve issues promptly.
Monitor progress on the Punch List, track the status of each item, and maintain accurate documentation.
**Project Controls and Corrections**:
Assume the responsibilities of Project Controls, overseeing project progress, timelines, and budgets.
Continuously monitor the erection process and proactively trigger necessary corrections to maintain project alignment.
Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors to address any deviations or non-compliance issues.
Implement corrective actions promptly to ensure project milestones are achieved as planned.
**Stakeholder Management**:
Collaborate closely with the client to understand their objectives and ensure project alignment.
Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Conduct regular project meetings to update stakeholders on progress, address concerns, and provide timely reports.
**Quality Assurance and Safety**:
Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Develop and enforce strict safety protocols to create a secure work environment.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
**Team Leadership and Development**:
Build and lead a high-performing project team, including engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, fostering their professional growth.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive work culture, encouraging innovation and problem-solving.
**Requirements**:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing similar large-scale construction projects, preferably in the steel industry.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in overseeing the erection of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure in the steel plant construction.
Strong project management skills, including project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
Excellent understanding of construction processes, safety standards, and quality control practices.
Proficient in project management software and tools.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
