Hsw Supervisor

**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
Assists senior construction site representative in the establishment and implementation of a job safety program. Supervises the program to identify and eliminate or control hazards to persons or property on the job site. Reports to the Safety Manager and functionally to the senior construction site representatives. Sees that the safety plan reflects corporate policy and complies with the prevailing safety requirements for the region.

Must be able to advise and supervise contractors in a broad range of safety and health hazard preventions and enforcement to the Contractors and project personnel’s on sites.

Must have ability to utilize computer technology to analyze data, maintain records, generate reports etc.

Must demonstrate knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental regulations and requirements for construction projects and awareness of all hazards likely to exist at construction sites, confined space, working with live sewerage, working with height, working with electrical power in a wet environment, proven updated engineering knowledge through continuous training particularly as to Health, Safety and Environmental issues.

Proactive acumen and an ability to manage multiple sites is essential.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Assists in the establishment and management of the job safety program; on smaller projects he assists the senior construction site representative.

Performs safety functions within the scope of the job safety program and within the limits of his capability.

On small projects, may also function as the first aid attendant, if qualified, and may also supervise the activities of first aid attendants.

Performs accidents record analysis, and issues reports on a regularly scheduled basis.

Monitors the safety performance of all construction operations in assigned job site areas, or in respect to one or more functions of the job safety program.

May perform non-safety functions; however, safety duties are given a greater priority than non-safety functions.

External Contacts - Clients, Suppliers, Government organizations

**PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Health/Environmental from a recognized University to the approval of the Engineer.

Membership of known Safety Association i.e. NEBOSH

Hold valid certificate in First Aid/Hazard Assessment (Entry to confined Spaces / Scaffolding).

Minimum 10 years Industrial experience working with live sewerage, rehabilitation & upgrading construction projects preferably in drainage systems / sewerage systems, treatment works, pump stations or equivalent projects.
