Washman Assistant

Assists washman in operation of machines to wash linens, including uniforms, curtains and draperies.

**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1. Knows what PPE is required and is able to do and remove it in correct order.

2. Can demonstrate correct hand-washing technique.

3. Sorts and documents weight of soiled linen.

4. Assists the Washman when loading machines.

5. Assists the Washman in tending the machines during wash cycles to ensure correct functioning.

6. Unloads the machines at the end of cycle and delivers linen for further processing as required.

7. Loads, operates and unloads tumble dryers. Removes and empties lint from collection trays.

8. Assists with specialized operation such as isolation wash.Send items with heavy stains to the spotting technician.

9. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.

10. Understands and follows all safety procedures for the washer and dryer equipment.

11. Documents and reports of any musculoskeletal complaints/ injuries on monthly basis.

12.Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

13. Participates in self and other educational training and development as applicable.

**Education**:
Intermediate School Education required.

**Experience Required**:
One (1) year of laundry experience required.

**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Must be able to lift heavy objects.
