Roles & responsibilities
- This role will oversee all finance, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, treasury, governance, compliance, Audit and Tax and risk management functions for the company. This role directs all financial activities and advises and assists the CEO in meeting or exceeding the overall financial and strategic objectives of the company.
- In addition, the role will report to the shareholder board as a direct line with a dotted reporting line to the CEO and will be expected to positively contribute to the strategic direction, performance, growth, and profitability of the business.
- This role contains setting up of a very strong compliance and governance function and as such the finance director will be responsible for reviewing the Delegation of Authority and the policies and procedures of the company and responsible for establishing a strong control environment.
- This role also encompasses the supervision of all Audit and Tax related activities including compliance with tax and regulatory matters along with timely completion of statutory and other audits. Added to this is the responsibility of managing the commercial and supply chain activities within the business and ensuring an effective service that is both customer and commercially focused and fully aligned with our overall procurement strategy, the needs of shareholders, and professional best practice.
- Advise stakeholders, CEO and other senior management on financial planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, financial policy, commercial best practice, and supply chain policy.
- Contribute to the improvement of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Maintain constant lines of communication and keeping the Board informed of all critical issues.
- Ensure profit is cash backed and sustainable
- Ensure invoicing & cash collection is done in a timely manner
- Increase profit margins through stepped improvements in productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor and control variations against original contract specification.
- Maintain and or implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures in line with governance requirements.
- Plan, synchronize and execute the annual budget and forecast process.
- Deliver effective financial stewardship on the business and on all business development initiatives, such as major contracts and projects, entrance into new markets and initiatives, mergers and acquisitions related issues, to ensure that we get the best deal available.
- Provide monthly, half year and full year financial reports on all operating business units, subsidiaries and joint ventures in line with agreed timescales, standards and procedures. More frequent monthly reporting and performance reviews to focus on accurate forecasting and early warning for anticipated problems.
- Represent the organisation externally in banking negotiations.
- Supervise and organise the work of the finance, commercial & supply chain teams
- Promote a culture of high performance
- Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.
- Guide and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
- Ensure effective supply chain procedures and spend control.
- Take the lead in developing, implementing, and reviewing effective commercial activity within contracts and services.
- In conjunction with shareholders (Group Risk, Legal, Supply Chain) ensure that business critical and complex contractual and insurance issues, including disputes and claims are resolved in order to protect and further the companies’ interest and relationships.
- Achieve contract and business unit growth targets.
- Ensure that risks are identified and managed effectively
- Work collaboratively with Shareholder IT to ensure that our systems and networks are delivered in line with client and employee needs. Delivery of best value to agreed deadlines is vital to ensure internal systems competence and outsourced offerings to clients.
