**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**
To provide patient-centric and evidence-based care by ensuring compliance to ethical and professional standards set by the company and regulatory authorities
**KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS**
- Provide a comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner
- Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others
- Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner
- Adhere to monthly duty rota as outlined by department based on hospital and ministry of labor guidelines.
- Promptly attend to all cardiac cases in emergency department, wards and ICU/CCU. Perform initial assessment and devise preliminary management plan. Review impression and plan with consultant on-call and help carry out needed investigations and management plan.
- Daily round on cardiology inpatients and consultations under supervision of consultant.
- Involvement in Cardiology educational and teaching sessions.
- Involvement in departmental research projects.
- Involvement in quality and departmental key performance indicators.
**Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION**
ESSENTIAL: Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant Saudi Arabia healthcare authority
Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant SA healthcare authority
Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
DESIRED EDUCATION: Speciality in Cardiology
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE**
ESSENTIAL: At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level
**REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**
- Proficiency in an electronic medical record system
- Verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic will be an advantage)
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of clinical audit standards and processes
- Ability to facilitate and support clinical clerkship training for medical students and junior colleagues
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Perform and interpret electrocardiogram (ECG) including ischemic changes, bradyarrhythmia, tachyarrhythmia, channelopathy and electrolyte abnormalities.
- Interpret cardiac monitor and telemetry devices for arrhythmia and events.
- Perform and interpret transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) including parasternal long axis view, parasternal short axis view, apical 4 chamber, apical 2 chamber, apical 3 chamber and subcostal views. Assessment for pericardial and pleural effusion. Assess for left ventricle (LV) hypertrophy by calculating left ventricle mass index and relative wall thickness. Assess LV volume, LV ejection fraction (EF) and left atrial (LA) volume using Simpson’s biplane method. Assess right ventricle (RV) function using tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and RV S’ TDI. Assess LV diastolic function using average E/e’, LA volume and TR velocity. Assess for valvular stenosis and regurgitation including severity. Assess cardiac flow using continuity equation. Assess volume status and estimate right atrial pressure.
- Perform and interpret exercise stress ECG, Holter ECG and ambulatory BP monitor under supervision of consultant.
- Obtain informed consent for cardiac procedures.
- Not essential (optional) - assist interventional cardiologist in Cath lab and assist non-invasive cardiologist in non-invasive procedures. Perform ICU/CCU procedures if needed.
