Virology Technologist

Performs a variety of chemical,microscopic, immunological and/or bacteriological testing in the ClinicalLaboratory to obtain accurate data for diagnosis and treatment of disease.

**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1. Prepare cell cultures for virus inoculation and prepare viral seeds. Execute viral infectivity, viral antigen, and viral micro neutralization assays according to standard operating procedures.

2. Performs molecular biology tests and experiments, such as QRT-PCR, PCR, transformations, DNA, RNA extractions and cloning.

3. Performs cellular and immunologic assays according to standard operating procedures.

4. Analyse lab results, determines success or failure of assays, and determines next steps required.

5. Obtains and processes laboratory specimens. Performs analyses, tests, and procedures. Maintains appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices.

6. Maintains records as per Hospital established Medical Laboratory standards. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. Maintains Quality Control programs of the section and participates in the Quality Assurance programs of the department.

7. Comply with the section policies, procedures and protocols. follow the section quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, CAP, SFDA and other international accreditation agencies standards.

8. Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

9. Participates in self and others’ education, training, and development, as applicable.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology is required.

**Experience Required**:
Grade 08:
Two (2) years of experience in Virology with Bachelor’s or completion of one (1) year SCDP program in Virology at KFSH&RC for Saudi National is required.

Grade 09: ?

Four (4) years as Virology Technologist at KFSH&RC, or (Grade 08) related experience is required. ?

Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years. ?

Fifty (50) hours of cumulative continued medical education CME.

**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.

Registration in MT(ASCP), CLS(NCA), or equivalent for American, ART or Medical Technologist for Canadian, AIMLS for British, AIMS for Australian, NZIMLT for New Zealander, or registered Medical Technologist for other international country is preferred.
