**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Director will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization. Works with senior construction management in the establishment and implementation of a job safety program. Supervises the program to identify and eliminate or control hazards to persons or property on the job site. Reports to the Program director. Sees that the safety plan reflects corporate policy and complies with the prevailing safety requirements for the project.
The HS&W Director is responsible for ensuring adherence to P&D Health, Safety and Environmental standards across all aspects of the program and auditing CMA / CMR for proper implementation of Safety controls
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Promote and provide leadership for a safe working environment at project site
- Provide leadership and support to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) Team.
- Coach, mentor and develop the HS&W team and all employees in order to achieve the required outcomes in line with strategic plans.
- Collaboratively assist, coach, influence and support the Senior Management Team to make informed decisions, to enable a strong HS&W culture and improved performance.
- Support workforce development and capacity building strategies which are important components of health promotion.
- Fully comply with all relevant Work Health and Safety legislation, take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of staff and visitors
- In collaboration with the Head of Welfare & Wellbeing, develop and implement the Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental Strategy to build a positive HS&W culture and continuously improve HS&W performance, consistent with contemporary practice, current research and legislative compliance requirements.
- Provide information and advice to management and governance related to serious HS&W risks to the program and facilitate collaborative interactions to devise appropriate solutions.
- Identify Safety technology and solutions that can drive a health, safety and wellbeing focus across the program to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Manage the development and implementation of strategic plans, policies, processes and practices to support the implementation of health, safety & wellbeing projects of strategic importance.
- Plan and execute a program for HS&W training, motivation and further competency development for site personnel to ensure site HS&W training programs are implemented.
- Promote a HS&W culture which is consistent with Parsons leadership ambitions and values and defining and implementing Site Specific HS&W Program and Plans.
- Ensure the compilation of HS&W related lessons learned and dissemination across the Operations team and Contractors on a regular basis.

- **Skills and competencies**
- Highly consultative and collaborative - builds strong relationships with key stakeholders, seeks to understand key needs and requirements.
- Experience in leading a team, implementing cultural improvement programs and effective management of change.
- Proven ability to implement a HS&W system and develop strategies, frameworks, including policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrated capability to lead continuous improvement activities and encourage team members to identify ineffective processes and contribute to new ideas and ways of working.
- Demonstrated ability for effective team leadership and management across multiple office and/or site locations.
- High level of self-management and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills including negotiation, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation and report writing skills and the ability to present technical information in a readily understandable format.
- Excellent skills with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
**EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum 25 years of experience in directing large scale / multi-site construction project safety personnel, experience in Highrise buildings project is a must.
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Health & Safety/Environmental Management
- Minimum Graduate Membership of internationally recognized Safety Association e.g., NEBOSH, CSP etc.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of HS&W regulations, requirements for construction projects and awareness of all hazards likely to existing construction sites.
- Must demonstrate appropriate ongoing Continued Professional Development
- Must possess leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of HS&W officers.
- Proactive acumen and an ability to manage multiple working areas on site are essential.
