Laser Scanner

As a Laser Scanner, your role is to operate and manage laser scanning equipment to capture detailed and accurate 3D data of physical spaces, objects, or structures. You will work in various industries such as construction, architecture, engineering, and surveying. Your objective is to collect and process laser scan data to create precise and comprehensive 3D models that can be used for design, analysis, documentation, and visualization purposes.

**Responsibilities**
- Laser Scanning Operations: Operate laser scanning equipment to capture 3D data of physical spaces, objects, or structures. Set up and calibrate the scanner to ensure accurate data collection. Follow safety protocols and best practices while operating the equipment.
- Data Collection and Processing: Conduct laser scanning surveys to capture detailed point cloud data. Collect data from multiple scan positions and angles to ensure comprehensive coverage of the target area. Merge and align the scan data to create a unified point cloud.
- 3D Model Creation: Process the point cloud data using specialized software to create accurate and detailed 3D models. Extract relevant information such as dimensions, distances, and surface details from the point cloud. Clean and optimize the data to enhance the quality of the 3D models.
- Quality Control and Validation: Perform quality control checks on the scan data and 3D models to ensure accuracy and completeness. Validate the 3D models against the original scanned data to identify any discrepancies or errors. Make necessary adjustments or re-scans as required.
- Collaboration with Project Teams: Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders to integrate laser scan data into the design and documentation process. Provide support and expertise in utilizing the 3D models for various project requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and documentation of the laser scanning process, including scan parameters, data collection procedures, and data processing methodologies. Document any issues, challenges, or limitations encountered during the scanning process.
- Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, and performance of laser scanning equipment. Keep up-to-date with advancements in laser scanning technology and software tools.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends in laser scanning. Provide training and guidance to colleagues or project team members on laser scanning techniques and data processing methodologies.

**Requirements**:

- Preferred Secret Clearance but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in laser scanning operations and data processing.
- Proficiency in operating laser scanning equipment and software, such as terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) or mobile laser scanners (MLS).
- Knowledge of laser scanning principles, data collection techniques, and data processing workflows.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software, point cloud processing tools, and CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues related to data accuracy and alignment.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
- Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and spatial reference frameworks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in laser scanning operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment and work in confined spaces.
