Urology Subspecialist**Basic Function**:
The surgeon sub-specialists provide attending and consulting physician services to patients of all ages in one of the surgery sub-specialties including thoracic-peripheral vascular surgery, colo-rectal surgery, oncology surgery, pediatric surgery, urological surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery. To maintain efficient and effective care of patients as a part of an integrated program of curative and preventive medical services.

**Scope**:
Incumbents are responsible for attending ambulatory and hospitalized patients of any age group, including cases of all degrees of complexity, which are within their competence and expertise-surgeons work at JHAH facility to meet established medical ethical and legal rules in the fields of its sub-specialties and by observing practices and procedures as required by Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare. Reports to, and be under the supervision of the Chief of Surgical Services Division. The applicable sub-specialty provides day to day work including management and evaluation of the quality of patient care within their clinical privileges approved by the Credentials and Privileges Committee. The Chief Surgeon is informed of unusual problems or action taken regarding unusual cases, within their clinical privileges approved by the Credentials and Privileges Committee. Thoracic-peripheral vascular surgeon Incumbent attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients with thoracic-pulmonary surgical conditions as well as abdominal-peripheral vascular. Colo-rectal surgeon attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients. Provides surgical expertise in the field of colo-rectal conditions. Oncology surgeon Attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients with cancer and arranges consultative services to patients who require oncology therapy and follow-up those patients with the Oncology Tumor Registry Service in the Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare system. Pediatric surgeon attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients in the pediatric group. He performs surgical procedures in this group. Urology surgeon attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients with surgical urological diseases. He/she provides surgical expertise in the field of urolithiasis that includes percutaneous nephrolithotomy and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Pediatric Urology surgeon has credentials for performing pediatric urological procedures. Robotic Urology surgeon has credentials for performing robotic urological procedures for managing benign and malignant conditions and also doing reconstructive upper tract surgeries. Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon attends ambulatory and hospitalized patients. Provides plastic and reconstructive surgical care to all age groups.

**Principal Contacts**:
Has daily contact with patients, family and visitors. Routine professional contacts are made with other physicians and nursing staff in conducting the duties of the position. Makes contact with JHAH medical facilities as required for information or advice, regarding clinical evaluation/follow-up of patients.

**Principal Duties**:

- Performs the professional duties of a surgeon sub-specialist including thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery, colo-rectal surgery, oncology surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery and urology surgery. Provides expert medical
- surgical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients.
- Makes daily rounds related to assigned patients in the Hospital, performs general and special examinations in the field of surgical sub-specialties.

- patient cases
- Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
- Make recommendations to supervisor regarding the medical repatriation of patients.
- Participate in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and to keep current on latest techniques, procedures and drug therapy.
- Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
- Supervises the work of staff surgeons and interns and provides his evaluation to the Chief of the Service.
- Participates in Hospital Committee functions as assigned.

**Experience**:
Should have experience in all phases of general surgery and traumatic surgery, at least two years of practice limited to surgery since certification

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Good command of oral and written English.
- Ability to adapt to group practice in an industrial environment involving an understanding of corporate organization.
